New Seat & Steering Wheel Design

I'm pretty sure the 3/8" couplers will not do anything to change the loader speed since the tractor and loader lines have not changed sized. It takes an adaptor fitting to install the new couplers - everything else is the same. I was told the couplers changed size because the GC hydraulic flow was at the high end of the 1/4" coupler capacity.

So I looked up the new parts. Found the new seat part number and the new steering wheel. The couplers I could not find. Anyone ????

Going to call the dealer on the new parts cost wise. love my tractor, but have always hated the seat and feel like I am reaching for the steering wheel since my
GC2310.

We will see!

Greetings Madhatter,

I was surprised when I was at the dealer open house, I got a really good chance to sit in the new seats.

My 2015 gc1715 seat I have and the new seats they now have are the same including the coils and spring suspension (color and storage pouch are different of course). But recognize the bracketing of the new swivel seats on the gc1710 is different than the former. So when I sat in the new gc1705 I could notice some difference with the new steering wheel. But I was a little surprised that the new gc1710 and gc1720 have a different height of the entire seating position than does the gc1705 and gc1715. Maybe I didn't notice it in the prior gc1720 because I don't have one but I noticed it in the gc1710 for sure because the new seat is that nice firmer comfort that doesn't squash down just like my gc1715 seat.

I noted with the new steering wheel and new seat combination that my arms had to reach further on the 10 and 20 because the apparatus under the seat for swiveling raises seat height. Just something for you to notice next time you are in the dealer.

I also specifically asked about the couplers as visually they are larger. They told me Massey found the couplers created a resistance point compared to the hydro lines, and when the couplers were changed, it allowed the hydro pump for the fel to transfer more fluid faster without changing the pump or lines. My guess is pump pressure stability either way but flow volume could improve especially for quick initial movements that are common with a fel.

Thanks Axle, was thinking of trading my unit for a 2018, however it will be chaeaper just to upgrade the improvments.

- Tried removing the steering wheel, no go. Even with a puller! Anyone else try it ?
- The seat, so expensive.... I see one on Ebay that is simular. May just try that one. Although they say armrests available but couldnt find them.
- Loader quick connects... going to change them, although could not find them on the AGCO online parts book ? Anyone ?

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and just picked up my GC1710 from my local dealer today. Just FYI.....if you look closely at the seat it is a MILSCO XB-180.

I might have to check out whether one of these Arm Rest kits will work if I decide I want one....the seat feels pretty good to me with my all of 1 hour driving it
around my flat yard. While it says its for a JD...it's also a MILSCO XB-180. I think the real question is whether there are any specific embedded nuts at specific spots
for the MF brackets....or whether the MF brackets are designed around an off the shelf seat..

Just looked at Axlehub's post with pics.....and the arm rests in the ebay link look just like the ones on the 1720..
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...92702-changes-gc1700s-2018-steering-seat.html

In fact I just looked at the seat on my GC1710 and it has three pre-drilled holes for the bolt locations and a recess in the molded plastic
for the nuts on the armrest bracket. So looks like you can add armrests for $110.

That is great info. Is the mounting bracket the same as last years and adaptable. If so, I will just buy this new one and be oh so happy.

The trick will be whether the nuts made into the seat bottom line up with the holes on the plates that bolt to the bottom of it that mate with the bracket on the tractor. If not then the plates could be drilled to mount to any existing nuts on the seat. This one has some measurements for the mounting holes:

(2) Black HIGH BACK Seats for John Deere Gator XUV 62i, 85D, 55, 55, #AIB2 - Seat Warehouse

The seat on my new GC1710 has three plates bolts to the bottom. Two under the front that are used to lock the seat to the tractor bracket using a pin. One under the back that has the rod to engage the kill switch. It's the bracket on the tractor that swivels and moves. Post a picture of the bottom of your seat.
