Very nice. I love the fact that it will do 16", that really opens it up for a lot of different projects. It appears extremely well built and bet it will last a lifetime. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more of your shop/progress.

That is a beauty. I made the mistake of googling it as I was drooling over it. Wow... what a nice tool to have in a 'dream' hobby shop!

All wired up this evening and it cuts like a dream. From what I’ve read the spiral cutter head is supposedly quite quiet. They were correct. It is maybe only half as loud as a tablesaw which is also pretty quiet.
Weight per ship tag was around 900lbs. Feels just right, not too heavy not too light. There is also an add on horizontal boring/mortise table attachment for the front of this machine. I am considering adding that

The good thing about those inserts is that you can turn them 3 times and maybe even flip them, giving you anywhere from 2 to 8 fresh cutting edges.

I was torn on the segmented cutter head. I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about it and essentially grain direction doesn’t matter.
The inserts can be changed or turned 90° at a time thus giving you 4 cutting surfaces per insert.

However the Trueset Knives are really easy to change and set and sharpen. In addition the 72 inserts are proprietary (and we all know what that is like)

The company willingly through in 72 additional cutters to complete the sale. That made the decision simple

Wired and cut with it yesterday
Extremely quiet, just hums along w perfect finish

What a great wish list item for the dream shop... some of the old planers are so loud hearing protection only takes them down a notch...

when I have an excess of drool, I come here to look at your beautiful machinery. Sorry if I leave any drips...;)

I remember the planer in high school shop, what a whine it made. No one wore hearing protection back then either...always eye glasses
but never ear plugs. Bet that has changed in the last fifty years.
