This just from the dealer...

Doesn't look like they will be picking the tractor up until the end of next week.

And the wait goes on...

I have been thinking about the light duty bucket, would you recommend getting some steel welded on? I don't have the tools or skill necessary to make it happen, but I was thinking since it will be at my dealer for a couple days while they're checking it over should I have them weld some supports on? Or would you consider it a non-issue?

Thanks

Martian,

I'm not real clear on what the differences are between the standard duty bucket and the HD bucket. I've only looked at the pictures.

I did note that even the standard duty bucket is pre-drilled for the reverseable cutting edge. If you did nothing else, I'd have the dealer put that on - or you can wait and do it yourself - if it would save you some money and buy local.

From the pics it's real hard to see much difference, really. At the worst; you'd need to have the top edge of the bucket re-inforced and the leading edge on the sides. A piece of 3/8"x3" or 4" flat bar along the sides and a section of 3/8" angle on the top (have seen some rectangle stock used too).

Pretty straightforward and not that much expense for any machine shop to handle.

Also; the reverseable cutting edge will substantially strengthen the bucket! You might not have to worry about the sides flexing with the cutting edge installed.

The only other concern would be the top - when lifting with hooks and chains, etc.

Instead of welding on it, what about if they have a better bucket you could exchange for? Or buying that 4in1 bucket since you have a grapple already!!

Just ran up to my dealer to get some things figured out. He thought the bucket would be HD enough without reinforcing with welding on some things, but I am looking into the bolt on cutting edge. Forgot to mention it when I was there and as soon as I drove off I was kicking myself. I'll have to get back in touch with them so they can make sure they have one there before it arrives so I don't have to wait any longer. I think the bolt on cutting edge will be the way to go for now, and if I think I need it beefier, I can make that happen.

Dealer didn't have any buckets on the lot, and as much as I would love a 4 in 1, not going to happen... for a little while:licking:

Nothing yet. Said that it should be on the truck towards the end of the week and we would be in touch then. This wait has been killing me!

If it were me, I'd figure on getting one even if it was a heavy bucket. But that's just me. :)

A bolt on will definitely be in the mix. I'm going to try and make it last as long it can... and when it gets worn down a 5-10 years down the road, I'll be looking for a 4 in 1:thumbsup:
