New warranty BX seat!

I have to say...just to make folks feel bad...that used my tractor for the first time (really used it) since installing the new seat by mowing the yard yesterday.

It sure is great. The foam never sank too much, there are absolutely no pressure points, the side bolsters were just about perfect, and the whole thing is absolute light years beyond the old seat. The steering wheel on my tractor is too far forward for me (personally) to ever feel comfortable leaning back into the backrest during use, but when relax during a brief drink or something, it feels like my couch. Better than my couch.

Very, very nice. Thanks, Kubota! Unbelievably, you have made me like my tractor even more!

And $50 is still a little stiff for something that was provided to them for FREE by Kubota. My dealer charged me $35, which was at the upper end of what I think folks should/could be charging. $25 sounds about right to me.

Yeah, actually, it makes me wonder about their pricing on everything. Someone here posted the price Chappell charged for a 50 hour service on a BX and it was outlandish. $120 for about 60 miles roundtrip travel (they'll come out to your house or farm to do service), then almost $400 for the service itself. I did everything the manual calls for for $110 in parts and about 2 hours labor. Maybe they do more than the manual calls for, like maybe they retorque all the screws on the tractor, but who needs it?

Still, the place is very, very nice and so are all the people. A vehicle dealership that didn't hose people just wouldn't be a vehicle dealership.

And you know this for a fact? To my knowledge the seats to retrofit tractors after May 1, '07 are free per unit sold, and the additional ones cost the dealers $25 + freight.

I talked with the regional sales rep... They are paying $25.00 / seat....

Some dealers eat it for the customers, some don't .......

I take back my criticism of my dealer. I think 100% mark up is pretty standard for a lot of things.

No. Apparently I don't. I guess I had incorrectly extended the "dealer stock" statement to all seats recieved. I know my dealer got way more seats than he has stock, so there is probably a mix in there. Net cost is probably less than $25, but whatever.

In the end of the day, the seat's real (retail) cost is (would otherwise be) at least $200 and I can say it is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

So I guess $25, $35, or $50, it's still a pretty good deal.

Keep in mind the dealer I got my seat from is not the dealer I bought my tractor from...but anyway, it was a 1 for 1 swap and they did not charge me anything. I would have paid for the new seat either way if needed, it's a huge improvement.

I thought that was pretty standup, all things considered, so I've been buying my maintenance fluids and filters from them ever since.

The dealer that sold me my tractor wanted $25 for the seat, but due to other issues I didn't go back for it.

That's a good dealer... Treat him well and he'll reciprocate...

Seen a billboard the other day....

Save your money and some day it will return the favor.......

I concur. Make a point to return to the folks who do this for you, so that they'll have the ability to KEEP doing it.

I posted in another seat thread about the possibility of an aftermarket seat. Has anyone done any research on this? Is there anything out there?

Suddenly it seems like a good business venture to make quality replacement seats since Kubota can't seem to keep up with the supply.

My BX 2230 has turned mostly into a mower (unfortunately), so I was about to trade it in on a Deere GX500 line because they were so comfortable (ok, so I'd get quite a bit of $$ back as well since they really don't match up). With the new seat, I'm in love once again with my Bota so it's staying put.

I meant to add this to the previous post. I swear the old seats were designed by the same folks who designed McDonald's booths. You know, comfortable for a few minutes, but not enough for you to sit down for more than 15 minutes. I think the thought was 'customer turnover' for more profit. Doesn't really work in the Kubota implementation though! LOL...
