I see posts below regarding float lifting tractor and I have the same problem. Am I just not pushing up enough to get into "float"? Is there a definite click and lock in place? If so I've never been there.

I didn't know it was supposed to "lock" until I read that post...I've always held mine in place. It does seem to be difficult to release at times.

As you push up and the loader lowers the load you can push firmly beyond that up and the loader will snap into the float position. To get it out you pull back. Remember at any time you let go of the joystick it'll bounce back to neutral.

The manual mentions the float. Read it.

Thanks, I did read the manual, but it was not clear to me if there was a "snap" into the float position. From what you say it would appear that it doesn't "lock in" since if you let go of the control it would go back to neutral.

Remember the "power" curl position as well.

It should stay in the float position and not automatically return to netural providing you are not bouncing around. It should not take a lot of pressure to go into or out of float. Your are talking about a detent very similar to the the little ball detents on socket wrenches that hold the sockets on at least on the good ones. If you are on uneven ground or what ever the bouncing is enough to cause the joystick lever to come out of float so you will have to hold it in that position. About the only thing I use float for is back dragging and I really never take my hand off of the joy stick when I am using the FEL anyway.

Thanks again for all of the info. I'll try it out tonight.

I had problems with the float on my BX23. I could not get it to snap into place. The dealer cleaned the detent valve during the 50 hr service and this fixed the problem. I use the float for the front bade when clearing snow off my driveway.

Tried it out last night. Works great. I had just never pushed the lever past the "detent".
