These next two pics are how they are positioned on the shaft.

Thanks anyway. I figured that I had to save them on my hard drive which reduced the bytes for each pic. I'm definitely not a computer wiz.

I want to emphasize that this is not the formal fix and is not available just yet. I don't want to open up a can of worms with Kubota by posting this fix, it's just a trial as of now. If it does actually work I'm sure there will be a bulletin to follow shortly within a few weeks. Just hold tight to see if this holds true.
I just got back from a short ride and could definitely hear and feel a difference. Only time will tell. So do me a favor and don't rush to your dealers just yet. Thanks.

Fred

Tact, thanks for posting these pictures. Do you know what purpose the bushing and plastic spacer serve? If the yoke is now a clamp-on type, then why use the bushing and spacer at all? The yoke is not going anywhere if its clamped.
This does not make any sense too me... See the attached picture.

I'm not quite sure but I imagine the brass spacer is there to put pressure on the plastic bushing so everything will be a tight fit from the yoke to the tranny, therefore minimal room for vibration. That would be my guess. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's pretty much the same principle as your fix.
BTW, you did a good job. How is your fix holding up?

I also guess that the spacer and bushing are ther for extra precaution in case the yoke should move. I don't expect it to move either but every working condition is different.

Tact, is the other end of the yoke still pinned? I looks like it still has the holes from looking at the photos. Can you tell if the drive shaft still has play on that side.

Seems to me like the bushing and plastic spacer would be of better use installed on the front drive shaft end of the yoke and not the tranny output shaft side that is clamped.

This way the splined bushing is installed on the front drive shaft until it stops where the splines begin to flare out. Then the plastic/silicone spacer is installed between the bushing and the non clamped side of the yoke. The yoke is then pushed up against the plastic/silicone spacer, which is backed by the splined bushing and the clamp side tightened.

This preloads the non-clamped side of the yoke (much the same way I fixed mine) and the clamped side is... well, clamped.

This is going to be interesting to see what finally comes out of this.

Tact, if this is true, then I think the dealer may have installed them backwards... Shouldn't the order be... front driveshaft - yoke/u-joint - plastic/silicone spacer - brass bushing - tranny output shaft

The way they are installed now... whats to keep the plastic spacer from riding up further on the tranny output shaft and rubbing against the shaft seal and ruining it.
