Unlocked and in neutral, I can put it in gear and then press the hydro to go forward and it lifts it right up then.

Ok, /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I thought surely that was the way most was trying to do it. I have know some that would complain that it wouldn't lift, only to find out that they had the brakes locked. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The last time I mentioned to someone that I belong to a discussion group the guy really got upset and said no one on them discussion groups know what they are talking about (that was for my ATV)

Hmmm... Last time I took my tractor to the dealer I bought it from (in Ark.) he informed me that he had never seen battery fumes eat up the battery tray, radiator, nuts & bolts, etc. He also did not know that the steering wheel tilt piston could not be repaired but had to be replaced. He did not even know that the ignition key was generic and even though I told him it was he left a key w/ my Uncle when he dropped it off after servicing it. I learned all of the above from my knowledgable friends here at TBN! I guess that tells you who I trust, huh? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Murph, I don't think I would be overly concerned but I don't think that your loader works the way that most of our loaders work. I think if we did an online poll here on TBN we would find that well over 90% of FEL owners (any brand and size) could lift their front end off the ground without using the curl circuit. If you complain to your dealer about it he will probably ask you why you think you need to lift the front end off the ground without using the curl circuit. I know its common practice to lift the front end off the ground with the FEL. I recently even saw someone post a picture of a service tech using the FEL to lift the front tires off the ground so he could service a tire. I think you should visit the dealership and test out one of their 29 or 33's and see if it will do it or not. If it does it then ask why yours won't. Your right that they probably won't care what us TBNer's think. If somebody reading this has got the time to set up a poll question in the general owning/operating forum it would be interesting to see the results. I've got to get back to house cleaning /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Guys,

Did the FEL lift test, and it won't lift the front end without curling the bucket. My question that I will put to the group: If I can lift the front end by curling the bucket, why do I need to lift the front end without curling the bucket? Just curious as to what this would buy me in terms of functionality.

To quote from Spencer's message...

These 7308 are supposed to have a 4" digging depth. That means that with the bucket flat the bottom of the bucket should be able to dig 4" deeper than the bottom of the tires. So therefore you should be able to pick up the front end 4" if you are on a hard surface.

For those who can not lift the front end without curling the bucket...In addition to making sure you have the brakes off, also make sure you have the rpms up to 2,600 so you are using the full capability of the hydraulic system. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif This occurred to me yesterday afternoon, so I tried it before I spent 4.5 hours cutting our 3 acre field (grass was 2 feet tall), I discovered I can lift the front end without curling the bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

With mine in nuetral and the throttle at full, I can not lift my tractor. Only if I put it in gear and then move forward with the joystick pushed forward. That is the only way and I am at 1850 psi at the 2600 rpms recomended for testing.

I'm going to try and get out there today and do some testing. I have to admit that I haven't tried to lift the front end just for the sake of lifting the front end since I took delivery. I lift the front end all the time during FEL operations. I will try to get some pictures of my test.

I tried lifting mine again today with the Bush Hog attached and up in the air as high as it would go, but I still could not lift the front end off the ground with the loader. I thought maybe the weight of the Bush Hog would have helped it enough to raise it.

Mike,

It didn't sink in yet, maybe I'm being slow, but to be able to dig 4" below the surface isn't the only thing I need is for the loader to allow the bucket to reach that level. I not sure why I need to have the ability to lift the front end to accomplish this task. I've dug below the surface without any problems, of course I tilted my bucket downward in order to cut the surface and to drive the bucket downward. In this situation the frontend will lift in the air if the ground is hard and the tractor is moving forward.
