I keep cars a long time and try very hard to keep them under cover. They last longer, start better, and look better with less maintenance. Why spend $20,000 for a vehicle and not protect it with a $2000 carport. It seems to make good sense to me.

You have said it all.

I guess you could be right DocBob. I just expected a little more relability. I mean agriculture equipment by its very nature is going to be exposed to dirt and sun and water. I have used mine heard, no doubt, But a crumbling dash is more than just cosmetic since all the switches and dash mount in it. A metal piece would have been more reliable. And the electrics are just cheesy. To be honest if I had known NH was fiat I would have never gotten it. And holy crap that engine is loud! Not the exhaust but the engine itself.
I guess I should stop whining ;)
Tractor is 2000 TN65. Maybe I will bushog this weekend. Nothing say stress relief like shredding vegetation!

Those engines are MUCH quieter than the 3 and 4 cylinder Ford designed engines in the 10 and 30 series tractors the TN's replaced. It has become common practice for careful people to wear hearing protection when operating open station tractors.

So the TNs do not have fiberglass hoods. Interesting.

Oh yes on the hearing protection. Holy cow it is loud. I thought it was exhaust and had a pipe made to dump under tractor but didn't make a difference. Well, actually I had the pipe made because brush kept bending the stock exhaust pipe. lol

yep metal hood on the TN65. Good thing too. I was lifting a 6 foot bushog and it smacked the hood leaving a nice dent. would have totaled plastic or fiberglass. I asked the dealer how much to redo the hood and they said 500 bucks, One of these days I'll do it myself.
I did order the CD of the manual so i can start tracing the electrical. The wire gauges are so small I think I'm working on HVAC control wires. LOL

I'll give you the one on the paint. My 02 Nh 7610s has grey showing thru the micron thin blue paint in a few spots. I will probably have to repaint her soon.

oh I forgot I replaced the first fuel tank because the level sender went bad. This one stopped working too but probably because I mashed tank. I'll put a meter on it to make sure isn't a wiring problem.
I know the Florida sun is brutal but the dash plastic is just brittle. also blue paint on the hood is coming off in spots. very thin. I'll sand and spray some more blue on one of these days before it rusts. I'm glad it sound like isolated incident even if it is MY incident. LOL

I always wear hearing protection. Always. 90 decibels at 2300 RPM at operators station.

Yep.. the manual on my 7610s lists 87db at op platform as well. ( unless you drive near a building.. then it gets louder from reflection.. )
