NH is it a Yeah or Neh?

If buying used, buy something older than 2012 to avoid emissions. I would avoid 2015. As some makes were still figuring out emissions then. Just my opinion.

I now have 7 new holland t4.75. Closest dealer to me is about 2 hours, but I use all sorts of different ones because the machines travel a lot. The main issue we have with them is they blow the o rings out of the hydraulic connections on the loader for the quick connect. Outside of that, my highest hour machine has about 9k hours. No issue with them. I will be switching to Deere next year but have loved the new hollands

I’m new to the tractor world and thinking about buying a NH 50-70hp around 2015+ mark and wanted user input on the brand and how easy to get repaired versus green, red and orange. Taking aside all brands have lemons, over all what say you?
I have a 2019 NH Workmaster 55 with cab, 6' shredder, and front end loader. Dealer is about 15 miles away. Really like the tractor. Shopped Kubota also but NH was the best deal. No issues to date.

The NH's are good tractors as are the CIH or CNH,
I'd be tempted to go a bit older then 2015 because of the emission requirements and their complexities.

So a pre 2012 or 2014 depending upon the hp.would be the age I'd be looking at.

I have a 2004 NH TC40D. Bought it new, 1200 hours now. Never had a problem.

My 2023 NH boomer 40 is a nice machine. It goes through regeneration about every 50 hours but after the first time I barely notice when it does, regen doesn't seem to make any difference when operating, I just keep on doing whatever I'm doing. Sometimes it blows out a little black smoke while regenerating. No big deal.
I'm pretty much a Ford/New Holland guy but not exclusively. Maybe I'm lucky but I've never had anything serious with any tractor I've owned (6 so far) whether new or used.

75 horsepower does seem like a bit much for mowing, moving, and leveling some dirt. I use a small 23 HP Deere to pull a 4 foot brush hog and a 5 foot rear mount finish mower; it does the job easily. About a mower: my 5 footer has rear discharge which is really the cats pajamas as there's no windrowing or clumping of grass. Never owned one before, fell into it used, and now I wonder why most finish mowers are side discharge.

Might want to put this in the Classifieds section, and include your location

My experience was that NH parts were available but took longer to get in and cost more than similar Kubota parts. I've had good luck with K they seem to stock even oddball parts and I've never had to wait more than 1-3 days to have parts in hand. When my NH front ring and pinion went I had to wait 2 weeks. My local NH also sells K. I asked on the K side price and availability on the ring and pinion gear and I could have had them in hand next day for about 40% less. Often I can email my parts guy in the afternoon and have non-stocked parts ready for pickup the next morning, stocked parts pickup same day.

Getting service done seems to be a 2 week wait list on either machine.

I don't think there is anything wrong with New Holland and I haven't heard anything negative as far as brand I would put them in the upper mid tier brands, right next to Massey Fergusson.
3 of my friends have NH that the front ends went out of. Local dealer, who carried them for years, has stopped and went with MF. He told me close to a 100 dealers have dropped NH line. But my neighbor loves her NH.I don't think it has had any problems. My uncles had the front end bearing in pieces when he repaired it. 40 horse range,he traded it for a different color

NH lost a lot of dealers when NH switched over to LS for their SCUTs and CUTs. My local dealer sold Kubota and NH for years. He dropped NH when they switched. He told me it was hard to compete with the LS dealer down the road who can sell a similar model with more standard features, such as 2 rear remotes, for less money. And there have been some issues with the quality of the LS models compared to the older Shibaura SCUTs and CUTs, that were very reliable, which he didn't want to deal with. I bought the last NH off his lot, a Boomer 8N, which I have since traded in on the WM75.

Since the OP is looking at used (2015) that sounds like he expects to do his own maintenance and repair. In that case, buying pre-emissions - before 2014 - is probably more important than brand or dealer. Working on early emission systems is difficult, but tractor mechanicals have been the same for a long time.

If you want to stay with pure mechanical and away from computer electrical common rail diesels entirely, look for something pre 2007.

BTW, 75hp is huge for the jobs you mention, 40 or 50 hp would do it.

@WM75Guy how was that Boomer 8n? I've always thought if I ever had a collection of machines I'd want one.

/ NH is it a Yeah or Neh? #34
All good until they break and keep in mind the older a unit is (no matter how well it was taken care of), it's that much closer to breaking and older units may have replacement parts issues as well. Bought my M9's way back in 02 and I worked them pretty hard and things are starting to fail now. Just like you, the older you get the more things that fail.

Me too, and glad not be alone. In fact we came real close when we were out tractor shopping. Two PTOs, full canopy with windscreen, 4wd, a 135 ci Shibauru engine only making 50 hp ought to last forever. and a CVT transmission - wow!

I didn't know - and still don't know - anything them mechanically, but the styling alone had me sold. A very nice looking tractor. Of course I'm a Boomer who grew up with 8Ns. That counts, too.

The Boomer 8N was a good tractor. It didn't have a FEL, was open station, used it as a dedicated mowing tractor with a 6' cutter. I needed a tractor with an FEL that would handle a 10 bale hay grapple. The TC40DA is my wife's tractor for grooming the arena so the Boomer 8N was traded in on the WM75. I got a cab with AC so I can mow in the Texas heat during the day and not wait till after dark.

Well... Some disappointing news but also good new on this thread. I did not purchase a NH but came across a great deal on another brand that I was considering... Kioti RX7320.

I hear the few of you, saying I don't need this large of a tractor, but the loading part is important because I have 4-5 acres with many piles of dirt and junk (toilets, bricks, etc) that I will be loading to move, not to mention leveling, etc. So I figured erring on the to large side, is better than on the too small side.

I want to thank all of you for your valuable input and advise!! I will be more active on this forum and appreciate the admins for running it!
