Well with lots of help my members on the list and my local Kubota dealer I finally got my Bradco 609 mounted and working on my tractor. The weather was perfect for a "Test Dig" today. My son and I had fun digging in the sand box!! :)

I am so jealous /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif. I am curious what difference if any the BH makes on tractor feel while driving?

Congratulations on your new toy/tool.

Ahh the joys of toys..........

Dig a hole, fill it back up again

Drill a hole, weld it back up again

Looks like fun (Especially for someone without even a FEL!)

Cheers

Great photos and a heck of a nice setup you got there Jim.

Looks like you have real good BH operator, and in no time he shall be giving you some advice. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hope the weather stay clear today so you get to have some fun.

ecard, The BH made a big difference in the feel of the tractor. The backend feels "glued" to the ground. I haven't done any real FEL work yet with the BH on but I'm sure the back end won't come off the ground now! The ride is much smother and not as bouncy when traveling. You can feel a little sway side to side from the boom throwing it's weight around while driving but nothing that bad. All in all feels great.

Neil, That's pretty much what we did, dug a hole and then filled it back up, Three times /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thomas, you have that right. He was getting more dirt in the bucket than I was on his first try, and he's only 5 years old /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
I'll have to hide the keys to the tractor while I'm at work or I'll come home to a gravel pit where the back yard use to be /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Jim, I see 3 pin placement options on the bucket, what are they for? Is yours set for minimum curl power? The outside option looks like a good place to put a pin for lifting objects with a chain. Nice digger, you'll find it a 1000x better than shovel.

Steve, Yes there are three holes on the buchet. The manual for the hoe states the following,
The hole I have it in is the "Standard Digging Position"
In this position the bucket will have 180' of rotation.
In the middle hole, This is called the "Truck Loading Position" This position gives greater ease of soil removal with higher dump height.
The last hole is called the "Power Digging Position" This position gives the maximum digging force for hard ground. This position gives 20% more digging power over the "Standars Position"

Jim, I noticed you have Turf Tires. Any problems with traction or regrets with that style tire?

Eric, I bought the tractor used with those tires on it. I thought the same thing; "I'll have to get new tires with more aggressive tread". But after using the tractor for five months now and doing everything from plowing snow to FEL work in the dirt and some logging in the woods, I have found that I have great traction. Now with the hoe on the back there is plenty of weight to keep those tires planted on the ground. The guy I bought the tractor from thought he might have problems also so he ordered rear tire chains for them but never used them. He gave me the chains as part of the sale, but I have yet to use them /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
