Noob.....LT166 or LT150

Hi Yall,
I'm brand new here, and I'm looking at two used mowers. I've got 1/2 acre of grass to mow, and it's pretty flat. The LT166 is a (2001?) and the LT150 is a 2005. Both have 38" decks, and baggers.

Both machines have been kept indoors, and look like new. Both are asking $1000.

Which is the better machine / better deal?

The better deal will very much depend on what shape they are in, plus how many hours of use each has seen over their years. Do you have that information?

I have an LT-155 and it has been a good mower. It was just around $3,000 with the bagger. The LT 133,155,and 166 were short run lawn tractors offered by John Deere.

I am not familar with a model LT-150, but it might of been a model sold to the box stores. You can check with John Deere about the two models. I guess if it was me I would look at the LT-166.

The LT-166 came with a Brigss & Stratton 16hp V-twin engine and the LT-155came with a Kohler 15hp one cyliner.

As for mower decks I think the LT-155 came only with the 38" rotary mower deck. The LT-166 there was a choice of the 38" rotary or Freedom 42" mulching deck or 46" rotary deck. around here all of the 166 came with either the 42" or the 46" 3 blade deck.

Last year I picked up a 42" mulching deck for cheap money and it is sitting in the barn for the day my deck goes south. I am not sure but I think 2001 was the last year the LT series was manufactured?
