The next thing I would do is fill the radiator with water leave the rad cap off and start it up and idle it see what happens. If its got a water pump and no thermostat which I believe is how your is the water should circulate immediately and not blow up out of the radiator.

If it does erupt like a volcano there is probably a serious reason we all are hoping its not.


Started her up w/radiator full and no cap.........water everywhere!! And was that exhaust gas I saw? Sheesh..........

New head, exhaust and water pump gaskets on the way from Hoye...................

I am impressed with your great attitude! We need to find out what caused it now if it is a bad gasket again so let us know when and if you decide to tear it back down so we can offer helpful tips now we have this history on it.

Ouch sorry to hear it well like I said let us help you as you know its a easy job and overlooking the minor imperfections here and there that may bite later is easy too. :)

Was the old one to close to specs to mill it more? Or you just wanna be done with it and get a new one?

Haha! I think he means new head gasket, water pump gasket and exhaust gasket. The plural 'gaskets' is the clue :)

Yep.....gaskets only. The head had a very minor warp last time. I'll check it, but hoping the gasket blew w/out any warping since there hasn't been any overheating....

Well here is the million dollar question WHY did it go so soon??? Please pay close attention to the bolt torques when you tear it back down AS you are tearing down you have one chance to find it!!!

If a bolt stretched or a bolt hole was real dirty so much so as to keep you from knowing the proper torque all this can be avoided next time!

Totally heed car doc on that. Even after wire brushing the threads, after running the tractor for two minutes I found seepage coming from the head gasket. I had to retorque the head bolts to stop the seepage and get a good seal. When I torqued them a few of them turned nearly a full extra turn!

Totally heed car doc on that. Even after wire brushing the threads, after running the tractor for two minutes I found seepage coming from the head gasket. I had to retorque the head bolts to stop the seepage and get a good seal. When I torqued them a few of them turned nearly a full extra turn!

Thanks,I'll follow that. My head has studs,NOT bolts. So I was very glad they were in good shape.....:)
