I've gone on a few ride-alongs with with several departments.
It was a real eye opener the stuff these patrol officers have to put up with... one call is someone looking for a lost elderly parent and next is someone strung out on drugs trying to smack down the officer and then spitting in the officer's face.
What I did see was a little respect goes a long way... one told me whether he gives a warning, a fix-it ticket or a citation has a lot to do with attitude of the person stopped.
Just be honest... seems to work... once you lie to a cop... your are toast.
