True... I know I kept a separate receipts for the 5 gallon jugs I filled for both the Tractors and the Property Maintenace along with a mileage log for the property maintenace.

Really small potatoes in the scheme of things.

Taxes add up to my biggest expense... with property taxes taking the lead...

Maybe I'd end up in jail or get shot, but there is no way I would let the DOT or police search my fuel tank for anything. Without cause, what right do they have to detain me long enough to check my tank?

This is my understanding of how it works in Illinois. If the vehicle is licensed for road use, you can't run dyed fuel in it. I'm sure if its not used on the road the chances of it getting checked is very small. My 2004 Dodge that I had with a Cummins could be dipped, it had nothing to block the filler neck but gas engine vehicles seem to have some kind of blocker in the filler neck. I've only seen them dipping once in Illinois at it was during harvest season at a grain elevator.

I know of someone that got a ticket for dyed fuel. He is a contractor and uses all sorts of off road diesel. They dipped all his on road trucks and they were clean. He had a Dodge with a Cummins with a fuel tank in the back. His Cummins was clean but he didn't have a sticker on the tank in the bed that said "Off Road Use Only" so the wrote him a ticket. I thought that was pretty cheap of them after all his trucks dipped clean.

These people complaining about their "rights"?? To bad we have laws and they have the right to enforce them.

I don't know... growing up my folks said don't ever give the law a reason take you in or write you up... it was yes sir, no sir... etc.

I've been stopped quite a few times when I was younger... had a late night university class and then worked graveyard for a time...

Each time I was pulled over the officer has asked to search me and my car... I always said OK.

Nothing ever came from it... I've been on my own property on my tractor and approached by police... they asked for ID and where I live... I said I live here.

Some I know have said that is simply stupid...

What do I know?
