Okay Bill....sorry if we ignored you and Edgar considering this is your thread. But, you know it's those little pups that seem to have a heart of gold and all the time they want to steal the show.

Edgar though....wow, he's aristocratic, kingly in appearance, with that intelligent and quizical look that speaks through that innocent countenance of his. If dogs could only talk, Edgar would be only a whisper away. Now Bill, you make sure you tell Edgar all these nice things I just said about him. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Pete...

You might find that after a brief standoff period, the cat will rule the roost.

My wife tries to tell me this but I remember our cat's first encounter with the dogs at the vet...the cat was endlessly snarling and swiping at the dogs as if they were some alien creatures from outer space. I would never forgive myself if I got a little pup like one in your photo, smaller than our Mounty, and finding out the little pup would be constantly terrorized with this cat snarling at and chasing him. Then, I would for sure have a Golden Retriever with psychological problems.

Hey Bill....I just remembered, you work in this field. Can little Goldie pups become traumatized by snarling cats to the point that they become schizophrenic?

Thanks guys. Edgar came out from behind the couch (as if he could fit there) and is smiling again. You have to be careful with comments about someone's kids. It was either a movie or real-life situation I heard about where a couple was making comments to each other about how ugly someone's baby was -- they were talking in the room with the baby monitor and were overheard by the doting parents.

I'll just assume that you all really meant it and puff up my chest again. Seriously, it's hard not to like a sweet Golden Retriever. George, my first was not a show dog, but he was as devoted and loyal as any you have heard of and I miss him to this day. I'd bet a few bucks that most on this forum are devoted to animals; kind of goes with the territory.

Now, Bob, I do think that animals can have psychological problems; schizophrenia? - hard to measure. I respect your loyalty to the cat - we now have two again with the addition of "Lucy" as my daughter named the kitten. Walter, a 13 pound yellow tabby is terrified of this little squeaking "monster." After two days, he at least stayed in the room with the kitten for a few minutes before hiding in the closet. Go figure. We'll get there, but as Pete can no doubt attest, there is always an adjustment period. Still, you might be surprised at how your cat could accept a golden baby. If not, you won't go wrong with a Golden in the future.

Now, many TBNers may wonder where this post wandered, but I'm sure there is a connection between the arrival of the 4310 and animal stories and pictures. Let's see... Probably with the tractor arrival I can think of more important things again. Sorry about the length of this one.

That connection is easy /w3tcompact/icons/clever.gif.....I've seen many pictures here at TBN of owners with their tractors and pets. You'll just have to take a pic of Edgar proudly standing alongside your 4310 and this discussion thread will come together....and then folks will understand why this discussion seemed to digress/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Could it just be the connection between the best brand of tractor and the best breed of dog? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Hmmm, I have one Kubota and four goldens. IMO the best brand of tractor is one that keeps running.

I agree completely./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Quite frankly, Kubota was the first brand I considered. I liked their reputation. A good friend had shopped all brands and bought one and loved his. The local Kubota dealer was a high school classmate who's less than a mile down the same road from me.

But, as new was out of my financial reach, I had him looking for used for me. I stumbled across a deal on a Deere and called him to ask his opinion on it. He was the one who told me to buy it immediately and, if I didn't like it, to sell it to him.

Needless to say, while he didn't sell me a tractor, he'll still get all of my service work./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gary,

That is the best dealer. He knows the value of a customer.

Great news Bill! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif I can feel your smile from here!!

Good luck on the final check. Hope everything is as it should be. Don't forget to take the camera and get pictures! Hey, have the dealer snap your picture getting your first few minutes of seat time! That'd be cool /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif!
