OH NO - I may be a Wino!!

I've tasted Ripple many years ago; not too bad. I've also tasted Thunderbird and it wasn't much worse than kerosene. When I started on the police department in 1964, Thunderbird was the wine of choice with the wino street people. But several years later, maybe 8 or 10 years later, MD 20-20 replaced Thunderbird as the wine of choice. And I don't really know why unless it was cheaper. Anyway, I've long wanted to taste Mogan David's Mad Dog 20-20, but I haven't wanted to taste it bad enough to spend the money to buy a bottle.

Bird I worked in a grocery store during high school in the 70s. Thunderbird and MD 20/20 had to always be restocked - mostly adults buying. The Boone's Farm (apple and strawberry) were for the kids - drinking age was 18.

Crash, you and Hattie Mae could be drinking partners.

Interview with 101 year-old Hattie Mae MacDonald of Louisville, Kentucky

Reporter: Can you give us some health tips for reaching the age of 101?

Hattie: For better digestion, I drink beer. In the case of appetite loss, I drink white wine. For low blood pressure, I drink Red Wine. In the case of high blood pressure, I drink scotch. And when I have a cold, I drink Schnapps.

Reporter: When do you drink water ?

Hattie: I've never been that sick.

I usually get Lambrusco but I'm going to try the Sangria and everything else mentioned. I love sweet red wine. Keeps the blood pressure down. Keep the suggestions coming.

Red Mountain Vinrose $1.49/gal or Logan Berry

Not a lot of wine snobs here, so it appears. I have never understood why anyone would pay over $15 a bottle because when you p*ss it out, it's pretty much the same. The best bottled wine I have found for the bucks is the Liberty Creek 1.5 liters...today I picked up a bottle of their Chardonnay and a bottle of Moscato for $6.99 each.

Or Boone's Farm:laughing: Oh, don't forget the ever popular Ripple.

Do they even make Boone's Farm, Ripple, MD20-20 or Thunderbird anymore? I haven't seen it since my college days (late '70's).

what about two buck chuck? Inflation has probably taken care of that, but for a sipping wine, it wasn't bad at all

Now, if you could get the WINE or WIMIN for a SONG, we would have the beginnings of a perfect ballad:number1::cowboy::cowgirl:

For health reasons I gave up singing.

Nope, you're OK, as long as you don't start drinking Thunderbird or MD20-20.

Bird-- Haven't gone that far yet. But I am a box-wine snob. I've almost given up on beer(who'd a thought that?) and I gave up Scotch for Lent and I only miss it a little. I almost feel civilized when I drink my Chardonnay.............not bad for a Texas Boy.
