Having done my second Kubota hydraulic filter change this year, I was wondering about the note to clean the particles off the filter magnet on the filter that is removed. Since the new filter comes with a new magnet, what is the purpose of cleaning the old magnet? Am I missing something? Are you supposed to keep stacking magnets with each change? It doesn't sy anything to do with the old magnet other than to clean it. Is it wrong for me to be making a collection of Kubota transmission parts by mounting the magnets on a board for display?

Some filters don't come with a replacement magnet. They may be aftermarket or a less expensive Kubota brand.

If you can find a cheaper brand and re-use the magnet then it will save a dollar or two. Not significant in my opinion.
