How much is a grapple?

That depends, on what size, what style and how you intend to run the hydraulics to operate the grapple. I have $1300 in my grapple and about $150 in hydraulic hoses and fittings.. I went the cheap way and use a rear remote.. But the Kioti remote levers are extremely handy nearby the FEL control.. Not all brands will have their remote SCV controls so near to the FEL control to make that convenient. If you go with a true 3rd function control (like the WR Long) expect to pay near $800 for that kit. Also your tractor is larger, and you will probably want a somewhat larger tougher grapple to match your tractor. If you get it all done for $2500, you would be doing well. I am sure some here have invested considerably more. Here is how my control looks.

How much is a grapple?

It depends. Grapples have a lot of metal in them and are heavy and expensive because of this.

Here is mine: 48" Rock Grapple Bucket Skidsteer Attachment | eBay

It is a medium duty, 48" wide rock bucket and weighs 550 pounds with 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" steel, with a back wrapper of ~ 1/4" I believe. The wider you go the greater the cost and weight, exponentially, it seems. I picked a 48" as it is lighter and will carry more weight due to its less weight, but does not have the internal carrying capacity of the wider units. So in other words, the narrower units can carry more weight but have less internal volume for carrying brush, etc.

My brother in Law has gotten involved in this now, bragging how nice his grapple is. but he has a tree removal business and can better justify the cost. He also made a killing on his grapple. It's kinda a cool story...
A fella had a grapple that he financed and fell behind on the payments. The financial folks were going to repossess it so he cut it up with a cutting torch and sold it for junk iron. All the pieces except the cylinder were there. My brother in law got it and welded it all back together, bought a cylinder and the controls for his tractor and went to town. It looks kinda like the buffalo leather (pieces sewn together to make a big piece) but it works fine.
I'd like to know what happened to the guy who cut it up but I don't know that part of the story.
I'm gonna try and find me a deal somewhere.
