Old Blue, Stayin\' with me!
Looks like I've reversed myself. Although a small excavator would be great on my other property (100mi away), if I had to have just one machine, I think the trusty Ford NH 1710 will be living up there in it's own ocean cargo container. At least when I'm on the slopes and want to stop it I know I can put it in gear, put the brake on and it will NEVER move, unlike my "orange" kids, with their "hope-the-parking-brake-holds" system. I was having trouble working on the Ford lately, knowing I was going to sell it, thinking I'd probably not get what it's worth. Most people never believe it when you tell them you are an filter changing, rpm conscious, clutch careful, owner. Plus, why is it that everybody puts up with all the little problems, broken lights, bent grill, loose stuff, and then fixes it all before selling it?!!!! Now I'll have a nice tractor again! I am thinking I'd rather keep it and be able to drive around at 6-8 mph then 2mph on rattly tracks. I plan to rent a bigger excavator then I could possibly afford to buy for some jobs, just like I have done here. I never enjoyed towing it up there, 7500-8000 lbs with the trailer and junk, the long sold backbuster HD Ford 460 towed it fine but even with that super rig the tail waggin' the dog sometimes had me squeezin' the steerin' wheel a bit tight!
It sure will be great just to drive up and go to work, without having to recover from the drive!
I'll probably still tow the BX up there to help out sometimes as well, but towing that should be a breeze.
Ah, <font color=blue>BLUE</font color=blue> and <font color=orange>ORANGE</font color=orange> forever!
oops, forgot our <font color=green>JD garden tractor</font color=green>!!!
