OK, so maybe instead of pulling on the hub, I should be pushing it back. I did try a tire iron in between the gap to separate them.....and it bent my tire iron. Maybe the BFH.

I took off the other side's tire, and it too, has slack in the shaft.....In and out about 1/8".....????

I drove it around a bit, and let the daughter drive it. She's only 15. I told her the back end swings out when you steer. It feels really weird when making tight turns. Something to get used to.

So I had 1 of the big tires going flat after about 2 days....

I thought it was going to be a cinch to fix when I found out the valve stem was leaking... I dismounted the tire, using the edge of my FEL on my tractor. This works great if you're careful and smooth handed. The hole the valve stem fits through was actually rusted out, and had a gouge in the 9/16" diameter. I ended up buying a metric flat washer, and brazing it in place. Then I had a tapered reamer to size it up to the 9/16" finish diameter. Deburred and ground the faces flat, inside and out. It seems to be holding air, spraying some kids bubble solution on it (I buy a gallon at walmart). I had to come in and take some ibuprofen. I am beat down. I had almost every tool I own out today, just to do a few things. The rim repair had out my torch set, of course I had to go buy some brazing flux and the washer.

So I have some more items to add to the list.....

So, I'm going to try and tally up to keep track of what I've spent on it... mainly just for fun. I won't say how much I paid for it.

Don, believe it or not, the hydraulic hoses just had grime and debris on them, and none are leaking yet....knock on wood.

$100. Trip down to get it, gas and including meal and beer for my helper/friend at the coast while we watched the waves roll in.
$50. for harbor freight cheapie come along and some cheapie ratchet straps.
$27. for 2 gallons of Chevron Delo oil
$7 Fram oil filter
$5. Inline fuel filter
$17. For some rust oleum paints, and 1 can of primer I've already used.
$7. Friend gave me 5 pole relay, bought him lunch.
$17. For a 5 wire relay harness.

Still have a list of needs. I will go by the junkyard Monday or Tuesday to see what kind of batteries they have. I want to order new flange head bolts and washers.

$4. I got a dozen 3/8 -16 flange head bolts and nuts (Bought at Fast Serv Ace Bolt and Screw in Bryan Texas) cheaper than Mcmaster!
$3. new valve stems
$6 Can of brazing flux
$1 washer to weld to rim to repair valve stem hole.

Running total
$244.

I might start taking parts to work, so that I can blast and prime them up there. but no hurry, I want to make sure everything checks out.

I have used forks for years to break beads with great results. Space them just a hair farther apart than the rim.

IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE!!! Drove it around a bit yesterday in the dark. The lights work fine. I still have most of the covers off, to inspect and see what's going on. Motor runs great, needs a glow plug. I need to adjust the neutral, it creeps backwards real slow with foot off. I determined the lever for Low/High is in the low position, which tops out at maybe a walking speed.

So in the first post pictures, you can see it came with a 72" mower deck. I'm guessing they had it in low speed, so it would have enough power to pull the big mower? It is a D905, and they rate it at 25hp....but time will tell. Next season will determine the ability to cut heavy grass.

Much of what needs to be done now is put new bearings in PTO clutch and belt tensioner pulley.....then on to aesthetics.

Got new hardware in the driveshaft's flexible coupling. I used grade 8 bolts, and poly lock nuts.

Put bolts back in the large part that the seat rests on.

Put her in high range. Definitely too fast to mow.

Let the son take the Beast for a spin.

It will take awhile to used to the rear steering. But after awhile it will seem natural.

I'm starting to re-think putting the trip down there and meal on the price. The weather was nice for a road trip. I spent some quality time with a new friend, and you have to eat a meal no matter where you are, so....I'm going to subtract those costs

I took back the cheapie Harbor Freight come along, because it was defective and unsafe. (minus $50)

$6 can of new WD40 fastener penetrant. Can't say it's a miracle worker. Rust Penetrant Spray | WD-4 Rust Release Penetrant | WD-4

$107. New actual running total of parts.
$$$$ My labor hahaha.
