One foot off the line...

NO NO NO! Thats not how its suppose to work. There are still a lot of angry words to be said, hard feelings to be had, lawyers to be hired, property to be surveyed! Your not going to let him off that easy are you?

I'm just glad it worked out in the end, and it sounds like you and your neighbor are reasonable people.

Well thank you all for your input! Much appreciated, and entertaining to say the least! Love it! I'm happy to report that Wisdom and Knowledge have prevailed in this case! I chatted with my neighbor last night, and he apologized, stating that his wife, went on-line, and looked up the property lines, and realized I was spot on with where the line was, and he realized that he was in fact right on the line, if not over it onto my side. So he graciously said he will be moving it back a few feet. And told me that he is glad I said something about it.

So I thanked him, and said his plan sounds fine to me, and we are now in agreement! I told him I would be happy to help him bury the old holes and dig the new ones, if he wanted any help.

Thanks y'all.

Excellent outcome:thumbsup:

BTW, where abouts in central OH do you live if ya dont mind disclosing??? Heck, you could be one of my neighbors:thumbsup:

Glad it worked out.

Buildings need maintenence, painting, residing, repairs, overhanging roofs.

It certainly seems just common sense to build a building more than 3 feet off the property line, and 15 feet seems quite reasonable, to accomidate even just building the building, much less working on it over the years.

Don't understand why folks buy an acreage and then need to crowd their neighbors by building buildings, plant trees, or put a garden _right_ on the property line. Then come along and complain about issues with a neighbor - all they had to do was stay off the line 10-15 feet. And build your house in the middle of your property, not crowded up on one edge so much.

Just poor thinking by people, in my mind.

It's always great to get along, sometimes fighting is more entertaining but in the end it's easier to sign a truce than try to remember where you buried those land mines!

Because they can, and other words I'll elect not to post.

But your right.

Does he know the zoning regs? It would still make sense to tell him.
That's probably why your barn is exactly 15' from the line.

A good tight Barbed Wire fence will hold kids out or in.

I fully acknowledge that you have the right to put whatever fence up on your property that you want, but barbed wire is really nasty, and I would feel terrible if I put a fence up right next to a child's play structure and a kid got cut up by it. Yeah. I know. He could just move the play structure further away from the fence, or put up another fence on his side to protect the kids. Sure. Sure. But if he didn't, and a kid got cut up, I think I'd feel terrible about it.

All of which is to say you should go electric instead! :confused2:
