coming up this weekend for about 2 hours of work that can't wait .... if you have something that you need a hand with - this would be a good time .....If not - I'm sure there will be things to occupy my time that will jump out at me when I get there. I don't normally have extra time on my hands on these weekends -- as I'm sure you remember...... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Bird, You have that right! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike I am just doing a 1 man job this weekend of leveling, forming leveling, tying re-bar, leveling and tamping.

Do you need help or need to borrow anything - like a concrete mixer? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It looks like another week before the pouring of the 9x21 slab. We will have a truck come out. Since you are an experienced expert on installing slabs with two people, (one being the wife) do you think we can do the slab ourselves? (She does!)

Harvey, was that 38 1/2" to leave un-ledged for each 36" door?
Should the un-ledged measurement start 3/4" from a pole?
Should the hinged side of the door be on the pole side, or does it matter?

It's awful late to be thinking Don!!!!!

It doesn't matter. Most of your doors will open in so let that be your guide.

I'd leave thirty six inches without ledge for the opening of the door. I'd also move the opening at least four inches from the post if I could.

Thanks Harvey! Your perceptive even when tired. My next question was going to be about the swing direction but you just answered that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do you need help or need to borrow anything - like a concrete mixer? ...nope -- just hooking up some water line and other odds & ends do you think we can do the slab ourselves? yeah - just be well rested and ready to hustle -- you know that stuff dries faster than us weekend warriors are comfortable with. When are you going to pour? The more bodies you have the better - if you even just have a third - they can start floating while the other two are still screeding off.
