Don, do you s'pose your friend, Peter, has some relatives in Sunset? We've had this little fellow hanging around for the last year. It's so tame I have to be careful not to step on it. After I snapped this picture, it just took its left rear leg and scratched behind its left ear. It wasn't even phased by my standing there taking the picture. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great progress on the carport! I see you got a canopy that takes a few less people and a lot less time to put up. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

When we lived 60 miles south of Dallas, some years we had lots of cottontails in the yard, and eating my garden. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Other years, rarely saw one. And now in town, early last month, we had one half grown one in our back yard that even came up on the deck a couple of times for about a week and then it disappeared. I don't even know of any place it could have gotten through the fence to get in or out of our yard.

We see cotton tails once in a while but there is a resident fox that lives in the neighborhood that keeps the population down. I keep several serious brush piles on my place to provide a safe haven for them if they need it.

"...need to get me some of those tarp thingys like you have..."

Mike, your in luck, For Sale, cheap, slightly use Texas shade.

Went to town and came back to this. I guess a gust of wind came because we have no bears.

As you can see we will be ready for the concrete truck this week, but without the shade. I guess we will have to be Texas tough like Harvey and Eddie.

Texas tough?

You've got to be kidding me. Texas heat and hard work sent me home with my tail tucked so firmly between my legs that I waddled today.

But it was a good day. A tough one, but we got more done than I expected and we survived, can't ask for much more than that.

Today is the day! Concrete Day. With an inexperienced crew of three we are anxious to handle the job.

The slab was 3.5 cu. yards and the minimum is 5. We used the rest of the concrete to pour two beams for the cattle guard.

Five hours after the pour everything was looking very good until .............
The rain storm:eek: !

There was some small damage to the surface of the slab before I could cover it, but it is still at an acceptable level.

Don, its sure looking good. Keep the pictures coming. Sorry to see the rain damage but it doesn't look bad. I sure wish we could take that rain off your hands. It's dry enough around here to lose a calf in the cracks. Here is a couple pictures I took last week in my front yard. We got a sprinkle the same night, but thats it.
