I have the file saved from just a couple months ago where Travis's favorite dealer was advertising a 1983 YM1700.

Wayne,

For your peace of mind, I don't have a "favorite" dealer..........I look for friendliness, best prices, and a good parts support..........I don't even care if they take trade-ins or not.

But just to let ya' know, there are more dealers that I dislike than there are that I like..........I find a lot of em' to be arrogant and smart-elic, or as some say, "cocky."

Norm,

Not really............Just like tractorErnie said, lets let everyone have their say on the subject.

I have to agree Eddie.......I guess I should have somehow re-worded it.

I feel Ernie’s pain. Seems easy to say put a restocking fee on it or mark the price up but it is not that simple. It would be easy if people actually took responsibility for their actions but in a world of insurance and warranties personal responsibility is at zero. I tried a restocking fee once because of all the parts that didn’t fit. I was screamed at with threats of being sued, turned over to the attorney General and reported to the BBB. I even had one guy say that he hoped my son got cancer and died! The restocking fee was 2% imagine how much fun it would be if it was 50%. I won’t turn away service work from anybody because I can control whether or not the parts fit. But if I find out the parts are for a veitcon then I send them to Hoye or the like, people that specialize and like to deal with parts.

The other pain (and I know Ernie has felt this) is our bone yards would be completely destroyed if we tried to support other dealers recon machines. My broken tractors are invaluable. They are the 20 year insurance policy for parts. I make a promise when I sell a tractor that I will support that tractor as long as I’m in business or as long as they own it. The veitcons eat parts that you would not normally see going bad like ring gears and axel housings ect. I know it sounds horrible but I had to start turning people away to insure my customers would be taken care of long term.

I know to the people outside of the dealerships this seems like we are just bashing and I can honestly say that is not the case. The veitcons are a problem on many levels only a few of which does the outsider see or even care about.

Where I have given someone a hard time JUST for buying the equipment? Buy it, fuss about it, then say how wonderful the seller is, and yes, I may respond. But find the place where someone posted nothing more than that they bought a recon and I gave them a hard time.

Well LMTC, since you asked.............

Being that you are a Yanmar dealer, I sent you a PM asking what could be wrong with my tractor because of my overheating problem................You replied back and said that you didn't want to have anything to do with it..........It wasn't your "place" to make any comments....................I did appreciate you replying back to me though, and I think I wrote back and told you so.

AND, I don't think that I was ever "fussing" about it...........Seems like you are trying to put words (that you select) in my mouth................YES, I was a little frustrated, but honestly that was it............I KNEW it was a minor problem all along anyway.......I just couldn't quite put my finger on it..................As far as me saying how wonderful the seller is, I have no problem saying it again because they are........RCO Tractor IS wonderful and so is the tractor I purchased from them..........I also think that Parker Equipment, Hoye Tractor, EFC, Liberty Tractor, Manning Enterprises........and Singleton Sales & Service (my Mahindra dealer.) are/would be good to do business with also.

SO, is what I am saying is that you could respond to a positive Vietnamese post and express your opinion, but you couldn't respond to my question/over heating problem and give your opinion?.......I don't agree with that.......Especially since you are a dealer.......And i'm sure a lot more don't either.

Seems to me that I must be one of the first owners of a Vietnamese reconditioned tractor to Post a Positive experience here on TBN.

I have gotten plenty of PMs of other "positive" Vietnam tractor owners too.......But they didn't want their names revealed and I respect that.

Travis, I hate to admit it, but I like reading your posts. Once I wade through all the ellipsis and run-on sentences, they are a comical read. I question whether or not you "knew" you had a minor problem or not. You had a love/hate relationship that flip flopped every hour it seemed.

Why thank you MDM!!!!........Makes me feel sorta special!!

Seriously though. YES I knew it was a minor problem. I knew if it was a head gasket I would have had water in the oil, and THAT would have been a major problem........and there was none.

Some might say that a clogged radiator is a major problem...........I for one think that it isn't.........It was actually pretty simple.........The hardest thing was gettin' the bottom radiator hose on.

Travis what kind of coffee do you drink, and how much of it?

Ever since Katrina I have been working the dog out of my tractor and myself. Besides lunch, I usually only take one break a day, where I sit down to my computer with a cold one and read the messages on TBN. If Travis wasn't posting on here than I would have an awful short work break and at my age, the longer the break, the better!!!!!!!!! (but my Yannie never needs a break)
