Looks like you did a great job in bread making! Thanks for sharing

Our family likes whole wheat (home ground) bread,,
the adults prefer sourdough starter bread,,
the kids prefer the commercial yeast flavor bread,, (each is a distinct flavor)
Either way, the Hobart does the kneading,,

The 5 quart for 4 pounds of dough, the 12 quart Hobart for at least 8 pounds of dough,,

this video is the 5 quart kneading,,,

We just ran a batch in the 12 quart yesterday,,, EVERYBODY got a loaf of bread,,,

My wife and I even had some!!

Two of the best smells from the kitchen are fresh baked bread, and bacon. Possibly the only thing better is when you cook both at the same time. :licking:

The wife bought a bread maker. I ate too much homemade bread. Had to quit with the homemade bread. Either that or widen the doors.

I haven't made it in a few years but when I did the first loaf would be gone before it cooled. Slathered in dairy butter with maybe a little honey over the top I couldn't help myself.

Love fresh bread. My wife does fancier recipes than me, but when I make it I use a recipe for "beer bread":

3 cups sifted flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
12oz beer

Mix it all up, dump into a greased loaf pan, and bake for 1 hour at 375F. You can brush melted butter on the crust for the last 5 minutes of baking if you want. Cool it for 15 minutes before slicing into the loaf.

For such a simple "dumb man" recipe, it comes out as good as any fresh baked bread I know of.

Choose your beer carefully as it will influence the flavor of the bread. I have tried all kinds and it's always made great bread.

Crazy thing is, we have not been able to get yeast locally for over a month now. I found a pound on Amazon and ordered it. We did not recognize the brand, but the last few loafs using that yeast have had great flavor!

My wife's favorite source of flour on line has also been out. It's been spotty, but we've been able to get flour locally to keep going!

I have made this. It is very good!

It was probably 15 years ago when we got a bread making machine... dump in the ingredients and press the button... bread mixed and cooked all automagically. I gained weight, repaired unit a couple of times, then said no more... we had fresh bread every night almost for several years.. lots of soups and stews. Kids loved it, they all still like it when Nana makes fresh bread or rolls when they are over for meals.

Bread from a bread machine and hand made bread aren't in the same league. Some one gave me a bread machine years ago and I tried every reciepe out there and it can't hold a candle next to my home made bread . It sits in the basement collecting dust.:drink:

Since our commercial bakery has been closed due to Covid [all our customers have shut down] we have plenty of flour for our needs.
My wife has been baking bread of all kinds for years but her years old sourdough is my favorite.
No bread machine for her, just her hands:)
In fact she just put 2 loaves in the oven!

My bread machine is an antique with a hand crank. I haven't tried it yet but believe that it will make 4 loaves.

MMMM! I could almost smell the fresh-out-of-the-oven aroma! A big hot slice and a dollop of fresh churned butter would make my day!

Have to say it was good. Even better toasted but you need to make the slices thin as this is a fairly dense bread. Just finished off the last little bit, toasted and with cheese. Good!

Make a loaf every so often in our bread machine. I don't use any salt. Saves about 20% on flour and yeast. 2 tbsp of oil, 1 cup warm water (37 sec in micky wave), 2 eggs and topped to 1/2 cup with water, 4 cups flour, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp yeast. Makes a 2 # loaf in the bread machine.

No honey for me this year, unless I buy it at the supermarket.
I am not there, but my son tells me my 2 bee colonies have died over the Winter.
Bummer!!!
