I think the new hi end Mustang makes more sense and has more usefulness than the Hummers they came out with that could not fit in a garage. I'm still scratching my head over that one. At least with a muscle car you can pick & choose when to drive it. You don't have to peg the speedometer, but I'll bet their a hoot to drive.

Regarding Obama's suggested new fuel economy standards of 49.6 mpg by 2025...seems to me Ford would be a lot much better off spending the money they devoted to research and design of this gas guzzling hot rod to meeting those economy standards instead.

It's about time they get with it and put a DOHC in a engine only about 40 years behind.

Overpowered?? Is there such a thing. My vision of the American muscle car is the scene in "Fast and Furious' when they line up for the race to the railroad tracks. There is no better scene than when that Dodge Charger stands up on end, body twisting, tires smoking, and bringing the noise!! Overpowered? I don't think so!!

Actually, much in terms of research and development, are gained from developing these supercars? A lot of the technology used in these engines makes its way into the lower performance and more economical applications. The average car of today is safer, more reliable, better performing and more efficient because of the developments gained through race and performance research.

Think about it, man would have never made it to the moon if we did not try to build bigger, faster, and more powerful airplanes.

I am a truck man, but if I did get a car, it would indeed be an American muscle car:cool:

We have two 2011 Mustangs. They are the V6 and stock HP is 305, they are now sitting at about 310 HP with very little work. I was NEVER a fan of the Mustang. My wife learned to drive on a 1966 Mustang and always wanted another one. Long story short we ordered one in January of 2010 got it in July of 2010. My wife would now like to have a Shelby. During the summer we average about 27-28 MPG, had as high as 31 MPG. The cars are an ABSOLUTE BLAST to drive. Glad we got em.

Please tell us where you plan to buy said loaded 3/4 ton truck and have enough left of the 60k to buy the new aluminum trailer much less a new Deere. ;)

Ya my loaded HD 2500 CTD Laramie cost me $58,000 in 2004, lol.

According to the Ford website it gets 19 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. Funny, on the car forums they wonder why people would drive diesel spewing tractors around their property all day because they're bored or use it to push snow when a little snow blower will do.
Maybe there should be a $50,000 tax on diesel polluting non farm use tractors.

You sound like the lad with the Land Rover, dry English humour?

My high school wheels were a '66 Mustang coupe with the 200 inch six and 3 speed, really liked the car itself but it was a dog. Would be fun to buy one and transplant the newest model Ford V6 in one, about triple the hp and better gas mileage to boot. Best Mustang I ever had was a '67 289/Cruiseomatic coupe, it was a body man's special and the engine smoked badly but I only paid $400 for it. A few oil changes later it stopped smoking and I got in a lot of practice with my bondo skills and a spray can. Best car I ever owned for the bucks.

I don't understand any new cars, they are all a mystery to me.

That is why I've signed legal papers saying if I buy a car manufactured after 2000 I want to be killed by a shot to the head.

When we bought our last new car the salesman asked if we wanted to take a look at the engine under the hood. I said, Why?

Hold off on that suicide until you take sides on the cause of Scotland voting for independence in 2014.
