Flooding in AZ, MO, IL, MI, OH and a few other places. I'm sure they'd all love to send water.

There were discussions at one time of pipelines from the great lakes to the highest bidder. I hope I never see that happen.

i grew up on lake michigan and way back when we heard about pumping from the great lakes to the SW.

Lots of good history about water wars in the west.

I know those cheeseheads. If someone try's to take their water look out for another civil war.

Today is starting out as a great day. 55F @ 5AM with a projected high of 81F. It's so cool in the house I'm wearing my hoodie. Both of us got a good nights sleep. I hope this weather helps quell the fires. We are very lucky here - not much smoke so far.

I just saw on ag news that the projected wheat crop has dropped 43%. I see on the map that the whole Palouse is in exceptional drought. As numbers come in, traders are expecting them to get worse.

Yes - Larry. Ten days ago I drove down thru the southern reaches of the Palouse. Everywhere I looked - the winter wheat looked ready to harvest.

So far this has been a very unusual year. I live in an area call the Scabrock. It forms the northwestern boundary of the Palouse. Been out here 40+ years and this is, by far, the driest I've ever seen. My property already looks like it does in mid-September.

Temperaure wise we are good over here on the west* side, but there is not any rain in sight. That is not terribly unusual for a summer here but the dryness is way ahead after the heat dome went through here.

There must be some smoke in the air. We were outside but smelled nothing. As the sun peaks over the pines - it's a fiery, fluorescent orange ball with a bright orange halo around it.

Sunny and 46 degrees this morning. Like goeduck says, We need the rain. I monitor the Chehalis River stream flows and for the past few weeks we have been setting new 92 year low flow records. We are about 25% below what was the previous record.

Ah, ha - rain. Not a whole lot - just sprinkles. But it did bring the outside temperature down. Now if it would just continue.
