Dargo said:they open themselves up for a huge backlash for providing a free service for their customers. They are, in fact making a political decision, not a business decision. In business, it is a very dangerous precedent to make public political decisions. So, I strongly disagree with you that it is a "business decision", and I also disagree with you and I feel it is a poor decision, and not a "good one".
Huge backlash??? That's agood one!
But seriously, it all boils down to making money for the bread place. That is a business decision, pure and simple. They don't want to take the chance of losing business(money) by offending their customers. They want their customers to come in and hand them their money as often as possible. So they encourage customers to come in, get a bite to eat, check their e-mail, then get out of there so they don't consume table space or keep getting free pop refills. They don't want people in there surfing the net after they are done eating. They want them to go away. The welcome, homey atmosphere is all a ruse to get you in and out as quickly as possible without making it feel like they are asking you to leave. That's the genious of it. You feel like it is your neighborhood place, but they really want you to go away as soon as you stuff that last little bit of bread in your cheeks!!!!
