Parade/Hay Ride Wagon

Bill,
I looked at Kory & EZ Trail -online- but there is no local dealer. Kory running gear is very nice. My sub flooring is doubled 2x12 stringers with pressure treated 4x4's for cross members. Its considerably heavier than the plans recommended but I do not want anything breaking. The flooring is 5/4 T&G exterior plywood. I can still pull the wagon - empty - around the yard with my ATV. Since the front wheels are steerable it is a bit of a bugger to back up. I going to make a clamp on hitch to put on the bucket of the FEL to make the backing up operation easier.

I have many dealers, but a lot of them only supply the larger farm gear and not small stuff like this. if they can get it, they will have toorder it and add in shipping, etc. So, I will just order it from them...they are slightly cheaper than buying it from Ruralking.com and will supply it in the red that I like. Chris, from Kory has been great in answering any questions too. As far as the lumber you used, I too wish to make cross pieces out of 4x4 PT lumber. I want to it last a long time, with only and occasional bolt tightening. I am still trying to figure out what height stringer I will need to clear the wheels comfortably and attractively. I don't want it too high, and I also don't want it to be sitting right on top of the wheels. But as far as the running gear from Kory...I am thinking it will come in abotu 950 or so shipped to my home. I will certainly be posting pictures when I am done. But, because I have two little ones at home, I will ahve to limit my time tinkering with this, and spread it out of my time home from work. Finish it up this month I am home, so that next time I get home, my Cub will be 100% restored adn both will be done at that point...ready for fall hayrides with the family!

Why not just put some hay bales on a regular 16 foot bumper pull trailer? I've done a dozen or so hay rides through my land this way. It takes ten square bales to go all the around the outside of my trailer. Every sits on the hay, facing in. My 35 hp tractor pulls it easy and I can back up without any problems.

I initially thought of that, but I am really looking for something with a specific look and feel. Like a real...miniature...hay wagon, not a black utility trailer with hay. Those are great trailers, just not the look and feel I was going for.

One guys comment on the Farmall Cub forum was that the drawing was not to scale. So, he sent me a grid image, as I could not find any off hand on the bridge, so...I have made them to "scale" using his file...It did not scan as well as I wanted...or in color, but you should get the idea. This is also based on the wheels being +/= 18" high and using a 2" X 10" high stringer. I did not want to have the bed too close to the wheels. Thoughts?? Side View.JPGRear View.JPG

I also could not tell, from the Kory website if the 72" wheelbase was from the front of the front wheel to the back of the back wheel...so, I drew in both...cannot really see the shorter wheelbase. But my thoughts about moving the bed back, so I can lift the tongue where that I would rather have symmetry and limited tongue mobility than an off center bed and tongue mobility...I am not too concerned about the space. It will be kept in my back yard.

That was one other thought that I was not dead set on yet. I do not know where to put them. If I put them on the middle three, then there is 2 feet at the end, unless I put a support there too. I think, then, that it would look too cluttered with side posts. I do plan on getting the corner bracket connector pieces, shown in the link below. Not sure if they will be enough to support the dangling 2 feet though.

Easy to add a couple of extra crossmembers to put posts wherever they look best.
