heres a pic of the filter. i see now a seal right on the end near the bolt head. should there be any more? but this seal wouldnt stop the oil from bypassing.....

i will check the switch, all in good time, im trying to split my time between getting 2 rideons ready for mowing, proabably starting tomorrow, and fixing this. Also making brush guards for it.

Thanks fro your help

Not really, I sold it to a neighbor up the road. He helps me out every now and then when I need some heavy duty welding done. So it is a fair deal in the long run!

I really don't remember, but I think your oil filter looks correct. I will yank mine out this afternoon if I get a chance, if not I will get to it tomorrow for sure. Clients are driving me crazy today!!!!!

cleaned it all down with brake parts cleaner - that stuff is legendary, you squirt and watch the grime run off - far, far better than WD-40
lookin good now, leavin it to evaporate off.
cant find the compressor so testing the switch will have to wait till it turns up or whatever.

Got offered a job with it cutting a 1 acre field yesterday, pity it wont work yet /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
thanks

Mith,

Took a look at my filter last night and it looks like you have everything. Two things you might try. First try to spray down the inside of the oil pressure switch with some Break Parts Cleaner. (that stuff is handy!) See if any gunk comes out.... Let it dry real good before you reinstall it. That stuff will take the oil off the bearing real quick as you can see.

Second, before you reinstall it just see if you can trip the switch by blowing in it, use a volt ohm meter to test it. I was able to trip mine that way yesterday. It did not take much effort. But I have been called a blow hard before!!!!!! I just used a short piece of fuel line I had hanging around.

Hope this helps,

Gary

Cheers, sprayed that cleaner stuff down it, a load of black goo came out, mainly all over a clean shirt i had on /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
whats the bolt on the end of the filter for (the other end to the one that you use to take it out).
loadsa rubbish came out the filter too
a can of the cleaner cost £5, used about 1/2, used it to de-sieze a toplink end, worked like a charm /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
thanks for all your help, ill try the switch tomorrow, found the compressor too, it had been taken for a ride

With a little luck that "load of goo"was clogging that switch.

I think the bolt you are talking about is the one that holds the assembly together.

Once you start using Break Parts Cleaner it can become addictive.....

need to start working it, losing money on it so far.....
thanks

Looks like it is behind the front engine cover. Never been that deep. Manual say's it is item #20.
