Pat's Easy Change Vs Quick Hitch

Did a little more reading and read where someone had posted that he had issues with his Cat 2 PEC fitting on Cat 1 implement with bushings due to the angle of the lift arms and that the width of Cat 1 being 26.5" and Cat 2 being 30.5" had his arms not "square" with implement pins. I do not currently have this issue I suppose due to the lift arm ball being able rotate.

Is this a legitimate concern? I had postponed this purchase for years to make sure I didn't invest in something I couldn't use. Clear enough explanation? Any thoughts? Worth stopping order?

Received the PEC Cat 2 for Christmas and got them installed this afternoon. Took a little longer than expected to install due to putting them on then pulling the lift arms in to the 26" spacing and having to readjust. When pulled in the PEC was leaning badly.

The parts I received did not match exactly as was shown on the instructions and there was no parts list. Wound up with four locknuts leftover that I couldn't see where they were supposed to go. Here are pics of the install. Those of you that have a PEC see anything I missed? I wound up using one shim, the largest sent, as it seemed to level up as needed. Was no instruction stating how they work, however they are simple enough to figure out easy enough.

The diagram with the parts showed two nuts on each leg of the u-bolt for a total of 8. The diagram showed the side bolts as if were a piece of all thread, no cap/head for wrench, yet nothing like that was provided and there were four cap screws that fit the threaded holes. There were only four lock nuts so didn't seem logical that they were for the u-bolts.

Are you stating the nuts should be installed on the cap screw prior to running them in then once snug run the nut back against the PEC as a jamb nut?

IIRC, I used the lock nuts on the U-bolts and I did use nuts to jam the side bolts. BTW, my Pat's EC came with Allen type set screws...not hex bolts. Those bolts stick out way too far....

The instructions showed Allen type set screws as you mentioned. Maybe this is something new they are going to or trying. Think I will disassemble again and use the locknuts on the u-bolts and use the eight nuts on the set screws. May email PEC to make sure that is the intent so to not have to break it down but one more time.


Had tractor out doing some loader work and backed up to disc harrow just to see how easy it would connect. It is as easy as described. Adjusted the stabilizer bar a little and think I am good to go. Look forward to trying it on my other implements.

Do you have the hex bolts or Allen bolts?

Any one with the quick hitch that need to get the bushings from cat 1 to cat 3 size go to the Northern Tool site and order them on line they are way less. A set of these bushings at TSC are like $32 and on Northern they are only $12.99 you have to pay shipping but even with that they are like $21 or $22 still less and if you get more than one set the shipping gets better. Now if you are lucky enough to have a Northern by you your even better off. Here is the link.
