Hahahaha I never thought of minnows! I call our beagle "Prewash" (when the Wife is not looking).

Kind of reminds me of the old joke about a visitor eating with an old bachelor and makes some comment about the state of cleanliness of the dishes. The old bachelor says "well they are as clean as soap and hot water can get them". After the meal he sets the dishes on the floor and calls in his two hounds, saying "here soap, here hot-water" c'mon boys..

Man, not mine. It is a Bosch, and it is one of the quietest, efficient, and effective appliances we own. It does one heck of a fine job and it does it with very little noise. I agree that some of the old dishwashers we have owned, or came with houses we have bought, were just big POS's.

My DW (Dear Wife not dishwasher) sometimes complains about not having a DW (dish washer) at the farm. I always hand wash dishes when I am by myself. IF I use the dishwasher it is just as a drain board. I also use one cup for coffee the whole time there. When she comes somehow 10 coffee cups get used by two people (really just one person) every day.

I use one plate, eat off it, clean it and put it in the drain board. I use one knife, fork, skillet, etc. clean them and put them up. If she is there she uses a ton of dishes, cooking pans etc. if I used all that I would probably need a Bosch DW too.

If the wife is in "a baking mood", or a "canning mood" or whatever, there can be a mountain of various pans dishes and utensils after she is done. It can take longer to get the stuff cleaned up than it took her to do whatever she was doing.

Amen, Brother! When the Wife is gone, I do the exact same thing. I hand wash them when finished and they are ready for the next meal. I have never gotten sick, I save water and electricity and save wear & tear on the cupboards. Sounds right to me!

I think my wife prewashes them, at least rinses them. I NEVER use the dishwasher; just prefer to wash and dry them by hand. Our first 2 dishwashers were Gaffers & Sattler. I rebuilt that first sorry piece of junk twice, and also rebuilt my sister's of the same brand, and one neighbor's. Then we had a Maytag that lasted a short time and wasn't worth the cost of parts to fix it. I'll have to admit that the KitchenAid we now have was in this house when we bought it 12 years ago and is still working, but that's one appliance I would never buy or want in my house. Naturally my wife disagrees.

My parents home came with a GE Dishwasher when it was built in 1958... Mom used it once and that was that... did find the pull out racks great for storing canned goods!

Dad said we have kids... why would be need a dishwasher?

Maybe we've just been lucky. Our 18 year old dishwasher has completed approximately 5,400 loads of dishes with not a single repair. The one we had before that lasted 17 years and was replaced because the coating came loose on the racks and started rust spotting dishes. No repairs on it either.

When I bought the one we have now the appliance store owner asked me what type of dishwasher I wanted? I said the best one you have even if it's the most expensive. Same with my first one. I've never had a lesser machine. Maybe that makes a large difference in such appliances??

Brand?

I will guarantee you there are differences in dishwashers. We have had some old ones many years ago that weren't worth the powder and shot it would take..... But the Bosch we have now has been a very good one.

Just as with anything. Ya want a Pinto or an LTD??? :)

And at the beginning of the project she has to get everything out and line it all up on the counters. No room left for anything. In the middle of it all is the recipe book on it's "stand". To find out what's brewing just look at the opened page. :)

You know I sure get a kick out of reading these stories fellas, I have only been married 10 years but I see alot of myself in them. I use as few dishes as possible since i hate washing them. I am already banished from doing laundry even though i did it for years when I lived by myself. She cringes when I tell her the whole basket gets dumped in and washed. :D Its to the point that I'm not even able to fold towels correctly due to her OCD coming out.
