Hi Guys ,, Info for anyone interested from a petrogen user .. I picked up a unit through online auction real cheap (aus$200) .. After the learning stage and finally cleaning out the fuel lines it is great .. The main use is for heating or cutting..( I also have a Diesel/compressed air torch for heavy heating ).Cutting is quick and clean .. Brazing can be done and it seems that brazing with copper wire is easier than using bronze rod .. soldering is easy with it as you can adjust to a broad flame ,just did a tractor radiator top tank fix up ,easiest fix I've done compared to using irons or O/A .. Silver soldering is OK with it .. Used it to place tungsten tiles .. As for fusion welding it will not work as it is highly oxidizing ,,I've got migs and stick welders for that .. Cutting is strange as it is much better on thicker steel than thin section, seems to lose heat from cutting to fast. On one inck and above its like a hot knife through butter .. another bonus is the ability to transport and use straight away. No need to allow acety/acetone to settle. But as already stated if you had to pay full cost you would need a lot of use for it to be viable
