PHD hook up

   / PHD hook up #11
Maybe I'm dense here, but far and away the easiest way to attach and store a PHD is to take it apart! Everyone I have seen has a pin as a hinge that the gear box hangs on the frame with. Pull out this pin. With it loose, it is EASY to install the frame on the tractor. One man, 2 minutes. After that, you can move it around with the tractor and position it conveniently so you can stand the auger back up and put the pin in. Again, this is fairly easy for one person. A real heavy duty unit might be challenging, but still very doable. The leinbach model I used worked great and it didn't even come from the dealer with the auger on the head, or the head on the frame. VERY easy to handle in 3 pieces.

No way in he!! would I want one of those stands. Takes up to much space, wouldn't let me store the PHD inside. Of course if you use your PHD a LOT taking it apart might be more time consuming, but other then fence installers, no one I ever met used it enough to justify a god awful stand.

Hope this helps.

I bought a stand with mine and glad I did - makes it so much easier - just back up to it like any other implement - I like the idea of putting wheels under the stand - then just push it anywhere ya want ... another item to add to "why I need to learn to weld"
