Re: Running Electric

just one more reason to put it in conduit..... when he has to replace it, it will be an easy pull......

My question too! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Running Electric

If you had a full 100 amps of load, which you probably wont, with #2 copper on a 250 foot run you'd have voltage drop of approx 9.4 volts. Aluminum would have a drop 13.6 volts. I think I'd run #2 copper, unless you have a lot of motor loads. Then I'd run #1 copper.

Re: Running Electric

In other words, get a pole and transformer from the power company. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I bet a long run of #2 in conduit would cost more than a hook up!

Re: Running Electric

Here in CT, it cost about $3000 per pole to get electric installed unless you are on a street that already has service and the new pole is going to service more people down the road. Private property poles are very expensive.

Re: Picture #9: The Stones

I ran copper 3/0 450 feet to my barn for 200 amp service. I bought three 500 foot spools and ran it through 4 inch drain pipe. The hardest part was dealing with the weight of the wire.

I think the hardest part for me would be dealing with the cost.

I lost track of what tools were going to be run off the circuit, but barring over 5000w/ 100a, solar power is very practical for intermittent use. I couldn't be more delighted with my inexpensive little system.

Re: Pond picture update

The weather was beautiful this weekend so I thought I would take a shot of the pond as it currently stands. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
