Yes, kind of. You really need to weigh it. Most 12k ttrailers are closer to 3k empty.

Chris

My 12k bri-mar deckover 8'x20' weighs 3700lbs empty according to the mfg website.

dstacy,

sounds like you already know the answer to that. The deck length has nothing to do with it. Its stopping the load. Everyone wants to talk about how much horsepower their rig has, but that's only for bragging. If someone pulled out in front of you, would you feel confident that you could stop the truck trailer and tractor in a hurry and not kill someone? I towed my 5083E with a 2005 3500 dodge SRW with a cummins and a 6 speed. Did I haul it everywhere I wanted, Yes. Did it pucker my *** during a panic stop, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT. You can load it in such a way to keep the weight off the truck, but the brakes are the brakes. I wont tell you it can't be done, but I would suggest not doing it often.

Ok so would you be willing to educate me since I really don't know or understand.
My truck has the towing package from the factory and a port to plug in a brake controller. I thought if I plugged in a brake controller it would use the brakes on the trailer and I'd wouldn't have problems with stopping. I know a V-10 F250 can tow the weight.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

well yes, and no. I can get into the legal stuff but anyways. I would reccomend a bigger truck personally. yes the 7 pin connector will give you trailer brakes. However, when you brake hard, ALOT of weight gets transfered to the truck. I personally dont think a 3/4 ton is the smartest idea. Will it pull it? sure, will it grunt and groan? you better believe it. The only thing you would have going for you is if the tire is unballasted. I'm not really sure what your question is though?

Again this isn't a Deere, but here's a picture of how I load up with an M9540 and 15' shredder. I know I'm way overweight. I just take it nice and slow and prepare to stop way in advance.

As was already stated, I would definitely recommend a deck-over for that size tractor/loader - especially if you plan to haul an implement on the rear. Salem-20120922-00046.jpg
