Ah ha! It will take PDF's!

This is rough but it should get the idea of what tires are available.

Re: Picking up Glenn\'s Work - R1W Tires Grand L\'s

We have a pic of an L5030 on R-4's stock. There is about 6" between the loader bracket and tire with the wheels straight.

And here we see stock ag's on a L5030, about 3" or so clearance with the wheels straight.

Here are the turfs, again with about 6" like the R-4's.

Re: Picking up Glenn\'s Work - R1W Tires Grand L\'s

I need your help, I have a L5030 with R4 tires and I have been thinking of replacing the the R4 with a tire that will not damage the grass when cutting but provides more traction than the R4's. I concluded that the XM27 would be the best of both worlds but has anyone compared the traction verses turf damage with the R4 compared to the XM27?

I thought of putting the XM27 on the front and rear but I do not want to modify my FEL frame for clearance. Will the XM27 11x16 Fronts rub the frame? Can I use my present 10 inch rims for the fronts?

The third question is, by using the 11x16 XM27 fronts can I use the 19.5x24 XM27 rears and will they be the correct ratio for the transmission? The last question, will my stock 24 inch rear rims work for the XM27 tires?

Thanks for the help, if this will work I'll take the before and after pictures

Re: Picking up Glenn\'s Work - R1W Tires Grand L\'s

I think I would be calling my local Michelin ag tire dealer. They are very sharp on this stuff. If you check out their site, you will see tire inflation recommendations based for your tractor with various tires. Some will go as low as 6 PSI. The L5030 may well fall into this low PSI category because of weight and speed.

I'm going through the same process now.

Yes, Glenn did this, he found the XM27 gave excellent traction and minimal turf damage.

That is part of the point of this exercise, I don't know yet.
(

No, the R-4's are 16.5" rims, all the R1W's are 16's. You need the R-1 front rims from Kubota or aftermarket.

I can't answer directly but from Glenn's research, the 11x16's are a perfect match to the 19.5x24's on the stock R-4 rims.
The 17.5x24's are close to right, just the fronts lead a bit more than they should.

I didn't have a tape on me to measure clearances but if someone with a 5030 on R-1's could measure the clearance when turned we may be able to compare.

Glenn's 3430 took them with mods, the 4 cyl's have a bit more length but I have no idea how much.

Re: Picking up Glenn\'s Work - R1W Tires Grand L\'s

Rat, looking at the pics of the 5030's, would your machine have more or less clearance to the loader?

I know the pics are hard to judge.

I think it is probably ok to mention now but I should have a familiar L5030hstc heading my way in about a months time. Pretty excited to be getting a machine that won't require more time repairing than operating!

Re: Picking up Glenn\'s Work - R1W Tires Grand L\'s

On page 24 of the Kubota L30 series brochure, it would appear that the LA 853 gives more clearance. BOth tractors on that page have R4's. While it is tough to tell which L30 is in the upper photo, it does have a LA 753 loader. My guess is the L 4330 on up have more tire clearance at the loader tower support.

Overall Length's
L5030 is 126.2"
L4330 and 4630 is 121.3"
L3830 is 117.5"
L3130 and L3430 is 114.8

The L5030 also has 14.9-26 R1's on the rear.

Re: Picking up Glenn\'s Work - R1W Tires Grand L\'s

Gentlemen: This is what I have found out from Kubota and Michelin:
The Kubota L5030 has a Transfer Case Mechanical Ratio of 1.564 with a +5% to 0% Lead.

This means if you had the Michelin XM27 11x16 front tire with a rolling circumference of 99 and you multiplied it by Kubota's 1.564 Transfer Case Ratio your rear tire size rolling circumference should be 154.84 to 162.58. The Michelin XM27 19.5x24 rolling circumference is 153.6, if you add the 5% Lead you end up with a rolling circumference of 161.28 which meets Kubota's designed transfer case gear ratio.

Now the bad news, you have to purchase two front 8 inches wide by 16 inch inch diameter rims @ $90 per wheel. The front XM27 tires are $318 per tire and the rears XM27 tires are $613 per tire for a total cost of $2,042. This is all based on your present tires being R4's.
