Re: Picking up Glenn\'s Work - R1W Tires Grand L\'s
I'm going through the same process now.
</font><font color="blue" class="small">( has anyone compared the traction verses turf damage with the R4 compared to the XM27?)</font>
Yes, Glenn did this, he found the XM27 gave excellent traction and minimal turf damage.

I thought of putting the XM27 on the front and rear but I do not want to modify my FEL frame for clearance. Will the XM27 11x16 Fronts rub the frame?
)</font>
That is part of the point of this exercise, I don't know yet.
</font><font color="blue" class="small">(
Can I use my present 10 inch rims for the fronts?
)</font>
No, the R-4's are 16.5" rims, all the R1W's are 16's. You need the R-1 front rims from Kubota or aftermarket.

The third question is, by using the 11x16 XM27 fronts can I use the 19.5x24 XM27 rears and will they be the correct ratio for the transmission? The last question, will my stock 24 inch rear rims work for the XM27 tires?
)</font>
I can't answer directly but from Glenn's research, the 11x16's are a perfect match to the 19.5x24's on the stock R-4 rims.
The 17.5x24's are close to right, just the fronts lead a bit more than they should.
I didn't have a tape on me to measure clearances but if someone with a 5030 on R-1's could measure the clearance when turned we may be able to compare.
Glenn's 3430 took them with mods, the 4 cyl's have a bit more length but I have no idea how much.
