Can I ask where you bought your tractor chains and the approx. purchase price?

I checked tirechain.com - they don't offer your particular chain pattern.

That's because it's actually marketed for a grader/loader....

You made a good selection buying that brand of chain, wherever you went... The Chain appeard to be Norse/telesfsdal... Chain made in Norway....

We assemble and sell the same brand chain at the store I work at... Good long lasting chain. MUCH better than Chinese chain.... Should last you many years....

They are Norse brand - Very high quality, awesome traction!

I bought them from a local dealership but I think they came from a distributor in NH. Call around to the shops in your area and ask for the Norse brand. I did call several dealers in NH and if I remember correctly there were a few that carried them - I paid $640.00 for the pair but the quality (and performance) justifies the $$.

Actually, there is an even easier way. Put the chains on the ground behind the tractor with the tips UP. loop a length of rope or baling twine through the rim, and tie the ends to the CENTER of the first cross chain. Drive forward, puling the chain up and over the tire. I sometimes have to stop once to center the chain as it goes over. Keep driving forward until the tied end of the chain comes all the way around and points straight back (at about the "9 O'clock position). Fasten the ends, and you are done.

You are right, and as a matter of fact the method you describe is the same one that is detailed in the installation instructions that came with the chains. Thats the way they are going on next year...Thanks for the input.

You're gonna leave marks on concrete or pavement!!!!

I'll second that V-bar's work great on ice but they are really rough on asphalt. Especially, if you get your asphalt Slurry Sealed. Oh well live and learn!
