It’s called planning when you build if you want to work inside. I went with a 14’ door and 23’ inside. Also good for my pedestal indoor crane. Plus much more. Always build the shop first so if you run out of cash it will happen on the house. Excuse if needed is it’s a place to stay while building the house and save money by storing materials while on sale!

My shop has 12 foot walls and a ten foot tall door. I've brought the front part of my backhoe into it to work on it, but by the time I was done, I realized it was just as easy to work on it outside my shop.

It's a 1998 New Holland 555E and it's been outside every day of it's life. Indoors would be nice, but so far, I don't see any real reason to have it under a roof.

I agree, light, heat and vitamin D are all free outside and they are necessities. But for things I can put on the hoist I go inside on the nicest days. I like the option for nasty weather. I once worked with a guy who hated sweeping the floor because the same amount of dirt is always on the earth. Another outdoor benefit no sweeping or oil drips to clean up.

I think most backhoes are stored outside. I would leave mine outside but don't use that often, concrened about tires dry rotting. I also have a huge problem with mice getting into the headliner, and not a few. But far to many. Poison works but gets to be a bad smelling cab , for sure.
