I have a L39TLB with a Loftness 60" snow blower on the SSQA. Get the motor model number and find the Cu in displacement. You can determine the speed of blower impeller by that displacement and your gpm hydraulic supply. I have up to 9 gpm and at first , mine would not throw the snow very far... but worked. With research, I found Loftness offered it with a smaller motor. So I replaced mine from 4.9 to 3.6 cu inch. Now it rotates faster with same oil flow. Snow blower success is all about impeller speed.
It's a volume per revolution, FYI.
With a smaller displacement, under the same load you'll have a higher pressure. Or, with a limited pressure it'll handle less load. It's a balancing act, between flow and pressure (and that's when you control the pump and motor----you have no control over the pump).

It's analogous to a gear ratio.

For whoever cares.

Great video. Almost mesmerizing with the momentum you carry (something I'll learn to do as I level out any uneven surfaces in my driveway). The length of your driveway easily justifies the side mounted plow. Any videos of that in action?

Hooking up the wing plow video, few minutes to mount the two points, and the chain around the 3ph lift arm. Mounts on right side or left side.

Compiled video operating the blade.. need to have a drone to get some better video of it. This winter getting more uses as we have been getting more snow. And as mentioned, get at the high snow banks before they melt and refreeze.

Thats the truth. I have my loader mount snowblower hooked into a 15 gpm, 3000 psi rear hydraulic power pack. Only way to blow that darn snow.

Thanks, the analogy is helpful. I knew I was not getting the same result, like higher rpm but less torque, but it works for me here in Ann Arbor, MI. We have not gotten much snow in years. If we ever do get a bunch, I would just have to got slower to maintain rpm. Super wet snow might overload the motor, then it is a miss-shaped plow blade!

That's true with a mechanical system, too (slowing down). It's just a method of power transmission. Less efficient than a couple gears and a couple of u-joints, but just as effective. Yes, you're geared higher for more speed, at the cost of torque. Momentum it's key (I think of those 4' saw blades to cut down trees). I'm in Cadillac and just blew 6 or 7". Took longer than 2", but I wasn't rushing either.

21 right now...got another dusting (half inch) of snow...and had received about the same by the time I'd gotten home from work yesterday. I'll hit the walks this morning sometime. Probably not worth using the tractor...but one pass down and one pass back might be in order.
Today's high will be in the upper 20's...
Chores today...dump run. Store run for a couple things...clear up the little snow as written about above. Putter about after that

Not very many pictures here!! Taken today. We've been receiving snow continuously for about 4 days now.

Had any time to XC ski?
We have gotten 6 plowable snow events in the past month with temps consistently below freezing and for the first time in recent and not so recent memory,
no January thaw or rain event to produce unrelenting ice to contend with:thumbsup:
The big bonus is perfect XC snow conditions pretty much every day!!:D

Got a bit of snow the past few days, and downright cold. Forecast is not looking too good short term.

Not as much as some of you all but Ohio Finally got some snow to clear off. Got my neighbor and myself dug out. Lightish snow around 7”, Mahindra 5555 (no ballast) with ag tires, using just the bucket, I was surprised how well Ag tires on this tractor did in snow, I had no traction issues, my last tractor with R4s spun bad and I almost bought chains.

Loader buckets are not the speediest snow removal tool, but guaranteed to work in 1" to 3 feet of snow. If I were just clearing my driveway, I would be using just the bucket.

I have this blade in the barn, it’s got a rubber cutting edge, I’ll deff have it mounted on the FEL before next winter and I’ll zip threw the snow. This is my first year using a bucket, it tends to scratch concrete and dig in the yard if I’m not paying attention, don’t like that result. But got the snow cleared. This is 3rd time clearing snow this year, average is 3-4 times a year.

Those snow numbers are really hard to imagine for most of us. Looking at your pictures, it dawned on me that you really have no choice other than blowing do you? I'm guessing that you may have some settling or melting during the season, but still, after about 60-80" there is no more "pushing back" the banks without ridiculous machinery.
I can't explain how sad I am for you guys, can't imagine getting by with 100" by early February.:laughing:
Thanks for the pics.

Thank You. Here are some pictures of what it usually looks like about the end of December or beginning of January. So all and all we have had a pretty easy winter up until now.

Yeah, steel is hard on concrete. I run a rear blade with a polyurethane edge for concrete, or where customers do not want any marks on the pavement. I think next year I'm going to try UHMW polyethylene edges both front and rear.

If you can tolerate leaving 1/2" of snow on your driveway, a set of "Edge Tamers" keep the bucket off the ground, and let you push snow off and into grass without digging in. I use mine on occasion, and they work well.

The snow guns are going strong in the Keweenaw. Looks like old man winter is trying to make up for the mild winter we have had up to now. We just broke the 100" mark this week. We normally have well over 200" by now. This is what I have been doing everyday for the past 6 days.View attachment 685938View attachment 685939View attachment 685940View attachment 685941

Assuming that is another snowblower on the three point arms, do you use both, one forward and the other backwards? If so do you leave both PTO's engaged all the time?

Snowfall amounts in the lower peninsula are also down. Stay warm. Jon

I think that's a first for me. Seeing a blower front and rear.
