Yeah, I like the cobs, mostly what I smoke, when I smoke. I've got some briar pipes, but I definitely love the cobs. For those of you who abstain, the hat's off.

I like a cigar now and then, but the boss prefers the pipe, by a long shot. ;) And, I'm allowed to stay inside.

Carter Hall still rules.

yeah i have a few hardwood pipes but the cobs are definately better. never tried Carter Hall. do you buy it in a local shop or order it? i'm also a fan of wood tipped cigars such as black and mild wine flavored, Djarum cherry clove flavored, and hav-a-tampa sweets or vanilla. They are easier to hold in your mouth when out fishing or something, they don't get all soggy. Are there any other wood tipped cigars out there that you know of?

Yup - Sam5570, that's a 'me-too'. RYO; runs about $8/carton. I use Bacco brand tobacco, but am always open to trying a different mix. Mr. Barrack is about to lay a felling blow on us though. New Obamacare is supposed to raise health insurance rates to as much as $8,000/year for anyone that smokes, around anyone that smokes, and probably anyone that's ever seen smoke.

I've only been smoking about 60 years now, so I guess I best quit before it effects my health.

yeah that put a hurt on the pipes that i smoked. my wife alway's tells me when i do something stupid, [ witch is often] that she knew i shouldn't have smoked that last joint. i do smoke pipe tobbaco, i buy it by the pound and make my cigaretes with it cost me about $8 a carton that way, im not sure it's pipe tobbaco but thats what it say's on bag. the people that sell it say's the reason the company put's pipe instead of cigarett is the taxes are alot cheaper.

A guy I work with does the same thing for the same reason. I have tried them and they aren't bad, I am just too lazy... even though he offered to make me a carton if I bought enough to make 2.

I ordered Carter Hall from here, along with a few other 'baccys: SEARCH

There are several other online sellers as well. It makes easy to try new/different tobaccos when the urge strikes.

Many years ago when I was young, I tried smoking a Pipe. I couldn't keep it lit. I haven't smoked in years, but I still love the smell of a Pipe. If I'm in a mall with a tobacco shop, I go inside just to smell the various kinds of tobacco.

I used to love a full bent Meerschaum and Turkish Latakia tobacco. I sometimes went for other strongly aromatic blends as well. Smoked it for about 10 years... Then got promoted, stuck in a corner office and given a young staff - who hated tobacco. After listening to their gripes for two years, I quit smoking at the office - they made it illegal anyway shortly thereafter. Then I got tired of carrying pipes, lighters, tobacco, cleaners, etc. - and of occasional burn holes in my clothes - and just quit.

But I still miss it. May go back to it some day when life slows and I spend most of my time at quiet pursuits - and nobody's around.

Gawd, used to love smoking my pipes. Perhaps why I still have a rack with half dozen still in my office even though I haven't smoked in 25 years. Loved going into the tobacco shops, the aromas. Pick something new, make my own blend. Ahhhh, those were the days.
