Thanks for the kind words. I'm sure no welder, Im a Grinder, ha,ha, ha. Im sure no painter but a can of paint and a paintbrush is better than rust, ha,ha. But I do love to putter and that is still great after 45 years . Here is the finished portable welding table, moving workbench , or pit cart a little of each, ha,ha. A week ago I loaded up the cart with my most used tools and ever since I have been using it 95% of the time. I love this thing. I have 13 tool boxes in my little workshop and this is going to be my new go to table for sure. I will post a video of me pulling it out of the workshop through the front garage. finished pit cart.jpg

Very Nice !!! Got another pit cart project starting next week. I love how easy this first cart moves around. I have 13 cheap tool boxes the last week I have been taking them apart and readjusting the slide supports, cleaning them and applying new lube. Making them work much better. Today I moved 4 top chests under three of my workbenches. Tomorrow I will move another bottom in place. I have another metal table I will stretch and attach two tool chest bottoms together. I have many smaller tires that will work great for this lighter cart. It will also have a T- pull handle and have the same steering setup. I am fine tuning my little workshop workspace and this should give me more free space. I'll post the first pics soon.

Today I used the plasma cutter to remove two drawers under the workbench. Then I inserted two toolboxes underneath. This will be much more practical. The second photo shows some of my cheap toolboxes. You can see my mini workbench I use a lot with a short piece of countertop attached. Two of these lower boxes will be attached side by side under another stretched metal table. This will give me more valuable floor space and make the other table more useful. I dissasembled another box today and cleaned all drawers, slides and adjusted the supports then lubed it all. They do work better but it takes some time. I will get going on the rolling toolbox Monday.box one.jpg

The photos today show the metal table now moved closer to work on. The bottom shelf will get lowered three inches , the drawer will get cut out and the frame will be stretched 12 inches. It too will get 8 tires but smaller dia. because this is much lighter. It will get the same steering set up and a T-handle. This is mostly just a fun old man cold weather inside project. I bought several of these cheap Task Force and Husky Tool boxes for $60.00 each and $50.00 each. They made it easy to build 4 workbenches very cheap. I have 85 drawers in these boxes so now I am finally labeling all the drawers. The second photo shows the center box I inserted yesterday under the south bench . It fit perfect.table one.jpgtable two.jpg

I got the top drawer cut off the metal table today and got it split with the plasma cutter. Looks like stretching it 13" will allow for the two bottom toolboxes to fit under it. Once the new length is welded roughed back in I can then lower the bottom shelf a few inches for clearance height wise. Another fun little workshop project.:thumbsup:table cut in half.jpg

Thanks, I'll attach a stopper for the toolbox drawers if it leaves the workshop . Today I cut out the parts for the front axle assembly. I also built the matching faceplates it will all pivot on. I welded the lower pin to the axle . The upper tube has the faceplace now welded on it for smooth steering . Next I will extend the front of the cart and attach the front pivot tube with plenty of support . This fifth wheel hitch type design was easy and inexpensive. I went this route because of the duel wheels or I would have built the traditional spindle and tie rod setup.View attachment 525268

You keep a very neat and organized shop... I'm guessing it is your private domain?

The reason I say this is every time and anywhere I free up some space or make a hole it is quickly filled be it at work or at home and mostly by others but sometimes me.

Thanks , It is a constant battle keeping the messes cleaned up each night . All this new organizing and labeling all 85 drawers is making it much easier to keep it clean. Yes this is just my one car garage mini workshop. So I have to keep it clean or I can hardly move around. Todays photos show me welding the new stretched frame back together today. Tomorrow I will lower the bottom shelf. It has to go down almost to the wheels so I have to do some trimming in each corner with the plasma cutter. The second photo shows the mage wheels and some chrome trim I got today for the pit cart project. magwheels.jpgtable welded back tgether 2.jpg

On schedule today getting the lower shelf brought down 6" . Test fitted the two boxes and they will fit great. I removed the old metal table wheels and I am starting to cut out the metal for the rear axle. This rolling table will also have 8 tires. 10 years ago I bought 40 of these tires for my model building . I used 30 of them so it will be nice to use up 8 more. I bought them for $3.00 each , tire, tube and with bearings. I thought that was a deal I could not pass up. I also removed 8 wheels from the two tool boxes. They will be put on my large drill press and my small sheet metal shear. They both have wheels now but they need larger ones. Getting the little workshop organized has been great fun.wheelsone.jpgwheelstwo.jpg
