Plastic Exorcism

Gentlemen, this thread is to enjoy pictures of real steel...not the tactical tupperware I so love.
It's not a discussion of whether one should own a gun...and, remember, TBN rules prohibit political discussions.
So, what say we enjoy the pics (wish I had one of my old S&W Model 17 to share) and leave the discussion out of it? There's plenty of gun related forums (The Firing Line, The High Road...two I enjoy) to discuss gun ownership
.

This isn't one I own (yet), but is definitely on my wish list. Schofield Break Top. It's an illustration, but Uberti makes a nickel model just like it. The one shown is a Beretta.
Sweet, eh?

Man, I love guns almost as much as I love big bolded fonts!

As I've said before in these 'show us your guns' posts: I have no guns to show. Why would a nice quiet law abiding citizen like myself have any guns?

I gotcha, George;)
You are exactly right, too. I just had a weak moment.

I apologize guys. I was being a pill. Should have included a smiley face. It was all in jest.....sort of.

My point was not anti-gun, just a little not so funny poke at my paranoia regarding gun control. I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I don't live in a compound, but I can't help be a little nervous about putting pictures of my handguns on the internet.

But, I do like looking at y'alls guns so keep them going. And seriously, I'm sorry about that post. It was out of place. And just to prove my sincerity, here's one of mine (no plastic):

I also offer my "mea culpa". I feel strongly about my right to keep and bear arms, my passion got the best of me.

Here's another of my babies, Mauser action, Parker and Hale heavy barrel, Hogue stock. It'll drive tacks at 500 meters. Whether I can or not depends on the day!

AND BTW, How do I attach the actual pic and not the link?

A firearm should be made of real steel, not plastic. The only acceptable application for rubber or plastic is for grips, and that should be held to a minimum.

In an effort to offset the demonizing influence of the evil plastic-pistoleers, here are some photos of real handguns. Also, a handgun should have a cylinder. The only exceptions are 1911A1 style and Ruger .22 Autos.

Just kidding, of course, but the Gxxck ain't for me.

Finally, probably my favorite gun for the last ten years or so:

My carry guns are a couple of old S&W Chief's Specials, and sometimes a 1911A1 if I expect serious social upheavels. I can't show you pictures of them. They're concealed.

Show me some more serious steel.

As the owner of a Les Baer Premier (http://www.lesbaer.com/), I would tell you that I love my cheapo Mossberg shotgun ($199 for 2 barrels), my Glock 17 (4 clips $350), and my whimpy little Savage 22-250 stainless w/ bull barrel.

For you steel/walnut folks...Les Baer is awesome. So is my Steyr Mannlicher Luxus 30.06. :D

The Glocks are, IMHO, the toughest gun around. Also, they're light and extremely easy to take down for cleaning. Another thing I like is they're quite smooth (dehorned, if you will...).

But for good looks, there's nothing like a big ol' S&W or Colt revolver!

I actually have a hard time getting the slide off a Glock

The simplest to strip and clean semi-auto that I have seen/used/cleaned, is a Desert Eagle. Even though I have not had one for a few years now, it would take two seconds to be back in the groove to strip and clean one.

The worst to clean, but fun to shoot, was pure steel and wood. A Colt Walker replica .44 black powder revolver. It came apart pretty easy, but it had black powder and grease residue everywhere!

Getting your fingers to grip the slide releases was a bit challenging at first, but practice makes perfect.
After tearing down a 1911 (barrel bushing, align the witness marks, etc., etc.), the Glock is so simple...
That's not a slam against any 1911's, so don't anyone take it that way, please!

That 1911 picture I posted is a gun I won as a doorprize. I'd not had a 1911 for about 35 years or so, and the first time I stripped it down before shooting the first time required reading the instructions.

I usually shoot Springfield Armory XD 40s and there it's just a case of flipping a lever and taking the slide off the front. Similar to a Glock. Going to shoot tonight after work, so I'll get some more 1911 disassembly practice.

Here are a few of my prized possesions.
The revolver was my dad's carry weapon, the Autoloader is just for plinkin' and varmit control, the singleshot will someday put meat on the table.
When do we get to talk long guns and scatterguns?

Bubba, that Browning Buckmark .22 is the sweetest shooting guns I have. I have the longer barreled version with adjustable sites. It is a real tack driver. Everyone talks about the Ruger .22s and I looked at them before I bought my Browning. I thought for the price, the ergonomics and features of the Browning were a better deal and after shooting it, I know that I bought the right pistol for me.
