I forgot to add, all the quick connects are 1/2 pioneer brand just like the originals, Except the two on the end of the loader lines. They are a size smaller and matched what I already had on my Millonzi grapple from previous tractor. JC

I read this again just to be sure. JC
Third-function oil tubes (300CX only)

Provides hydraulic couplers at the front of the loader boom for operating attachments that require third-function hydraulics.

Note 1: Tractor must be equipped with a third SCV.

Note 2: If used with skid steer attachments, couplers will not match. The following parts are required to convert for this application:

He may have just cut out the part about how to adapt skid steer quick connects to Pioneer quick connects. Skid steer QCs are flat faced and don't match up with those typically used on tractors.

That is Deere's description of the kit for the 3rd function lines. I think the dealer was looking at it wrong. You have to have the 3rd scv, that is on the back of the tractor, and it tells about the q/c's on the front of the loader. I just wanted to show, that this kit goes from the rear to the front. JC

Maybe this picture from JDParts will help clear some confusion:

Assuming part 12B (the adapter support plate) is intended to be mounted near the FEL post, then it sure does look like all the parts are included and that you'd need nothing other than some zip ties to go from the rear remotes to the front of the FEL frame/grapple mount. $290 is a good deal for all that stuff.

Thanks for clearing this up. Given that the dealer wanted to charge me 3 hours of labor and apparently gave me bad information about the kit, I will be talking to different dealer about this kit. We have 3 JD dealers within an hour so I'll see what the others have to say. I wish I could just buy the kit off the Internet -- I agree for $290 it is a great deal.

Kenny, how did you find it on JDParts? I tried unsuccessfully. Do you have the link to it?

Well several of you have certainly saved me a lot of money and steered me in the right direction. My wife says we owe you a dinner if you are ever in our part of the world.

I've been enjoying my tractor and putting it to good use. Going to order the grapple soon -- waiting on our "government check" to arrive so I can spend it and do my part to boost the economy. :)

I'll post some more pictures once I get it all setup.

It won't let me link to it....

But you have to think like a parts guy-
-In the search enter "300" or "400" for the model #, don't use the letters
-Select your loader from the available choices(bottom of the list)
-Select "alphabetical index"
-Select "H", then scroll down to "Hydraulic oil tube or hose, third function"

It's been a little while, but here are a couple pics of the Mollonzi LD48 grapple on my JD 4520 and the John Deere kit -- "Third Function Hydraulic Lines and Hoses" which is apparently has two codes:

9049: If you are adding as an option to a new loader/tractor
BW15630: If you are buying it to add onto your existing loader/tractor

The kit costs about $300. I installed it myself without much trouble. The kit's hardlines terminated with 1/4 inch FASTER brand QC's.... so I had to order adapters and one set of matching QC's to connect the grapple lines (1/2 inch male pipe thread) to the hard lines.

The grapple has been great for brush clearing and removing half-buried rocks such as the one depicted below. Thanks again for everyone's advice.
