arched a-arms and a little bigger tire can do wonders for clearance on the Ranger. I could easily clear 5 gallon buckets.
I've always had great luck with Yamaha products. I'd be looking at Rhino. Their prices seem pretty decent too.
It would have to be used. I believe the last Rhino was built in 2013. Now it's either a Viking or a Wolverine.
Have a 900XP. No battery issues with mine. I only use it once a week, it starts right up.had a 2016 ranger 900xp. I used it mostly in winter with tracks for grooming, but some trail work as well. I liked it...but it wasn't for me and I always felt there was work I needed to do to IT, not the work I wanted to do. I did modify mine heavily, and I think I over-did it and soured my opinion on them. My ATV has been much better for my needs and is a Polaris also.
The battery is worthless. Absolute trash and if it isn't on a tender the thing will die within two days. This has been well documented on prcforum.com . Maybe this has been fixed, but lots of threads about battery issues.
If I were to get a UTV again, I'd get a straight worker, like the Kubota, FIL has one and loves it. Even the polaris Brutus, but I don't think I'd ever buy a Ranger again. I also wouldn't get a 540, but based on your history of use it would probably be enough for you and your needs.
IF you do get a Polaris, join that forum, and go find Greg (Toxic-21) The man is a literal Polaris Genius and will diagnose, help fix or find the part number to literally anything on your rig. That forum has some guys who know what is what.
I'm keen on the Viking and had planned to purchase one as soon as Yamaha stuffed a twin engine in. In 2018 when the new Twin arrivewd in the Wolverine, I was eager to try it, but sadly, as many things are for me, I couldn't handle the seating position with my bad back. Dumb luck that I bought an RZR 10000S at auction with the intent to buy-fix-sell and I found out that I could sit in it and enjoy the machine.
