Polaris Ranger Crew Stuck in Swamp Two Weeks Now....

Guys it drove into the hole so the easiest way would be to pull it back out ,But after sitting for weeks you'll need a shovel and some muscle so roll up your docker slacks and get a little dirty or call a tow truck .Why anyone would leave it stuck in the mud for weeks is beyond me , especially if they borrowed it ! A shovel 20 feet of chain and a comealong and it's out in 1/2 an hour ! you'll never pull it out going forward especially if you think is hung on a stump . Funny I don't see one boot print anywhere near that machine so nobodies trying to hard to get dirty !

I had to go back and reread this to make sure I didn't miss were it came out of the mud ,I cannot believe anyone would leave a machine stuck in the mud for almost a month . REALLY ?

OP - you need a new thread titled "Polaris stuck since July 1st, 2013" - two weeks doesn't give it justice.

I agree with Grumpy - pull it backwards a bit first, it may be wedged into the stumps.

Pulling backwards might be the way to go it depends though...a Ranger is pretty heavy so it's possible it jumped right up and over a stump and it's tough saying which direction would be better. I would really try to get the thing up on top of some logs, have a look and see what it's hung up on and go from there. I also can't believe it's been stuck for a month, that's very hard on equipment....I don't even like leaving stuff overnight.:confused3:

Thanks for the help, offers of help and warning. My brother in law has a boat so he is providing his boat winch to put high in the trees above the rear. We are going to try to lift the rea and then pull it forward hooked to two 4wds attached to a strap high forward.
The winches the guys broke other than my Plaris winch were two Habor Freight electric winches. They burned out one and twisted the gear shaft off the other. My Polaris winch is 2000 pound, but they ran the cable to the end and broke it.
The trail is where the Polaris is located is near the river and wet.
I plan on taking in Aircraft Landing Mats from VietNam over time to go over the bad spots. Jim

there's no way you could pull it forward to get it out . It just kills me :pullinghair: to think it's been sitting in the mud for weeks ! If you can afford to buy it you should be able to afford to pay someone to retrieve it from the mud on the day it happened if your not physically able to dig it out ,By leaving it there it's just sinking further in to the mud and making a somewhat easy job harder ! I know at least 10 guys who would love to jump in there and show just how easy it would come out ! probably for the cost of a 12 pack of Budweiser ! :drink:

True on all counts. I am out of the area with the government until Saturday and sometimes not then. The boot prints covered over when I would get my foot and leg unstuck from the suction. I also agree no one should have this stuck for a month especially those who did it should have gotten it out. That is why two local farmers came to help yesterday as I have a torn back muscle and a broken rib from trying to do it my self. The pull from the rear is good but the area is underwater behind it and they could not get around. In the South (further) I would have friends with swamp carts but not here. Yea..stupid, but all I can do withlimited time, tools and access.
We have a Bobcat, 4x4 JD and DC but too tight a trail and mud to get in. I would have used a mule team when I was young with chains and maybe a come a long when I was a kid.

Grumpy...I offered to pay my friend and it kills me too. We are in a different time and world. When I was young neighbors helped neighbors including sharing every sterr, hog or chicken kill as we all had little but lots of Faith, care of others and help was given not asked for.

That is one reason I left my home of 30 years beachfront in Florida and moved to east Tn . The people in this area still believe in helping their neighbors NO CHARGE other than a beer and a burger if that ! I would rather spend my afternoon digging your four wheeler out of the mud than let it sit there for a month !My insurance thru State farm covers towing on my toys ,I bet they would love that claim !

Thankfully, I have KTAC and they offered the same. I called for towing several times the past two weeks. and no takers. I even called the Polaris dealer and he did not know of anyone. So next Saturday, my wife will be at the land with food, beer, drinks and a sign saying free food and drink! My brother in law is bringing a crew plus the two farmers. I found a retired Seal who is slightly damaged like me and we will get it out. Then off to the dealer to ensure it is OK. KTAC will pay, less small deductable.
I asked about retirement experiences on another thread and plan to do so in the next three years. 28 years Army, 13 years government (other) and never being home even to help my wife with the kids (or pull a Polaris out and make time with neighbors) has me tired of being tired.
I work in a world of 140 words or less writings and discussions, where a cellphone is a socialbility shield and where I have pulled over to help in three serious car wrecks where no one stopped. Each time such as the last, a Latino construction worker covered with paint and a guy in a 4x4 were the only ones to stop and help. Others drove by or were taking picture.
You took me off down the yellow brick drove Grumpy. Good day, Jim
