Just as an FYI to other's, I got a quote today for pouring/finishing the concrete of $1,300 labor only. We are still working on doing the prep work.

I just poured a pad for my barn, it was a 40 foot reach to back of the barn. To reach the back we set up an couple of saw horses and took a 20 foot long 18" diameter piece of ridged sewer pipe and cut it lengh ways to make a extended trough for the concrete truck to pour into. we set it on saw horses at a downward angle toward back of the barn. Truck poured into the trough which flowed it down trough to back of barn, it worked great!

I mentioned the window deal to the only contractor I have talked to so far and he said it wouldn't work because the chute has to move side to side. He also said the Georgia Buggies would not work out real well either. I am starting to come to the conclusion he is just lazy.

He's telling you he doesn't want the job, go somewhere else. Obviously the chute can't swing side to side if you stick it through a window, the point is you can at least get the concrete close to that end then shovel it, or use wheelbarrels. A few good laborers can easily move a yard in the 5 minute time the trucks give you.

Thanks guys, I hopefully will get some more estimates soon. I am so ready to get the concrete portion behind me. It is the one part of the pole barn/garage that I can not do myself.

Just a quick update. Picked up the rebar today and the wire mesh a couple of weeks ago. Also had 46 tons of gravel delivered today. It is nearly ready for the gravel to go down.

Time for more questions :) The concrete guy I talked to today said he did not see much of any other way of doing it and it would be about an extra $600. I, being the frugal person I am, would like to avoid this if possible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

nrc, like others have said a couple of laborers can move the concrete. When I had concrete put in my 30 X 45 building the concrete guy had the laborers line up several wheelbarrows near the main garage door and they man-handled the concrete to the back in a few minutes. No big deal. Keep up the good work! Stanley

Slooow progress and it has become blistering hot in TN lately. But today we managed to get the plumbing roughed in for the bathroom and spread a good bit of our gravel out preparing for the concrete.

Any chance we can see a few photos of the bathroom rough-in. Wedge
