Yes, those are the things I am talking about. I figured they must be a good idea if they make them. I figured they would be a good idea, especially if they are cheaper than encapsulating with concrete...and plus probalby just as easy to setup them up.

Post protectors are a great compromise. Here is the link where they were installed on my barn/garage.

It added about a $1000 cost to the project. Reduced cracks around the posts in the concrete as the protectors are a little larger than the post. Replacing a post down the road will cost a fair amount so they may be good insurance against this happening. They are easy to trim if you need to do so after the pour.

The ones installed on my shop were black, but otherwise look the same. They fully encase the bottom on the post. My main reason for using them is that if the termites want the posts, they have to go over the top of the post protector to get to it. I spray regularly, so I doubt they would even try!
