I've been a lurker for a while now. Decided I'd start contributing.

22 x 36 with 10' lean to

Is that Round Rock in Texas?
Welcome, all the same. Good way to get started.

Yea, Round Rock TX, but my land is in Belton and Academy. I'll update my info. Hoping to set the lean to posts and headers tomorrow and start on the roof Sunday.

VERY nice structure. That's more the type I feel I'm capable of handling. Some of these structures on TBN are just too large for a single person. And, I thought my land & our area was flat - that pic #2, looking out across your land - you can see tomorrow coming off in the distance.

Too large for a single person? Maybe. But not too large for the right tractor!

Leveled the ground and put a layer of road base down. Then put in the lean to posts and headers today. Plan on final adjustments for plum and square and install the ridge beam tomorrow. Hopefully even get a few rafters up. Also, my foreman wanted to make sure his picture was posted as well.

You sure want to keep the help happy.

Nice touch notching our headers. I always use three bolts and prefer to double up my headers. Ideally I try to overlap the seams by using boards long enough to attach to three posts. How are you attaching your ceiling joists?

Looks like it will be a goo sized building. I like the bracing you used at big door openings.

Barn is ready to start framing the roof. 20 mph winds stopped me from putting the ridge beam up.
Using Simpson H1Z hurricane ties to attach the rafters.

Finally had enough free time to frame the roof.

It's coming along nicely, before you know it it will be full of "stuff".

Installed most of the purlins. Ordered the metal and should be ready for installation in a couple weeks. Had to take most of June off to prepare and drill 20 acres of WW-B Dahl and bale hay. Hopefully it continues to be a wet summer in Texas.

Looking good joe!! Wow, look at that land! TEXAS (in my opinion, one canno' write or say that word except in all capital letters), now that looks like what TEXAS should look like to me. Sidetracked a bit... How'd ye find round poles? Seems here all we have access to is 6x6, which I like, but I also like the round ones.

I appreciate your posting progressive photos. I'm taking notes. I am planning a similar structure later this year once I can get a well dug.

Thanks for the compliment. Its amazing what a little rain can do. Last year at this time you could see bare dirt in the fields.
I'm a native Texan and a little partial, but from my time in the Navy, I know there are many beautiful parts of the USA. Upstate New York looks looks very similar (in the summertime and if you ignore the mesquite trees).
Civilization is closing in fast. I hear there are 110 people moving into greater Austin from out of state every day. I guess pretty soon I'll have to trade my tractors in for a Prius.:)

Posts came from McCoys, a regional lumber yard that caters more to ranching.

Hay and family have delayed my barn finishing. All the rain this summer makes it look like I'm growing a crop of Johnson grass.
