I have the same sort of situation here at work as well. I use this method -- maybe it can work for you:

Original Password: 00aa00aa
30 days Password: 11bb11bb
60 days Password: 22cc22cc

You can get the idea pretty quickly, that all you need to do is remember your current number/letter. The pattern is the same.

You can recycle the 0-9. When I get to Z, I then just change the pattern (i.e. 0000aaaa)

Good luck!

To Andy and all. Registered or not I really do not care, but the one thing that I very much care about is the experence of the people who make posts... When I first found this form in an earier life, it was a lot smaller and shall I say kind of easy to figure out most users likes and experences. If some one posts I have not read much on, or makes a statement, I like to check where he is from in general, hot Texas or the cold North. It makes a difference to me if they are just starting out in tractoring or have a lot of hours in the saddle, also it makes a great deal in what my reply may be.

Next, I have lived in other places in the country for many years and just moved back to my family home. I like to hear what others say about what has changed since I was there. I have found people on the board who live just around the corner from family and friends. Also it is nice to find others who have similuar interest (other than tractor also) and are members in some of the same orginizations I am in, in other parts of the the country. I have sent private messages or email to others from this board about others subjects we have in common. It is nice to be able to exchange things I find interesting... And item last; I think the profile here is very general and do not think it reveals to much one would consider personal. (I will look at it again)...

BUT MOST IMPORANTLLY A HAPPY EXCHANGE OF IDEAS TO ALL.....

...Members encourage other members to do certain things ...

That's one of the best virtues of TBN... we highly respect each other... even though we don't have to agree... Our self-policing works better than any site I've been on to date...

...maybe a redesigned Search Engine and ease of use would help...

Wrong choice of words that I used... I actually think this Search Engine works fast, and efficient with the "defaults" as I mentioned... I mainly think lack of usage is the problem, and maybe a combination of ease of use/educating TBN members how to use will curtail the same questions that have already been answered "multiple" times...

I only suggested the search "status" as a possible method to entice members to use the Search engine more than it's being utilized now. Muhammad you introduced the "Status" symbols as a means to attract and retain members.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

So... with 4 days to go before 2002... when does the new TBN kick in...? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

use the search engine more than it's being utilized now

Well... there are over 40,000 searches done per month ... compared to about 6-8,000 posts/month... so there are more searches done than posts, for sure... and the search being used might be why we don't see, say, 15,000 messages posted per month. Not to say it won't get to that level ... but remember that the popularity of this site has increased quite a bit ... and with more people, come more posts ... a certain percentage are going to want to post the same questions over and over again, regardless of whether they search or not. When I go into a new forum, I'm more likely to post before I search, just because I think my question/situation is totally unique and couldn't possibly have been covered before. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Encourage the search, we do... in confirmation and welcome messages... and we will more in the future. Will that reduce the number of posts about the same old topics? I doubt it.

Ha... 4 days! A lifetime. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

You might see some changes tomorrow. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Right now, I've got to post "what color should I paint my green tractor?" and also post "what is better...synthetic oil or dino?"

See ya...../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

When I found this site, I registered and completly filled out my profile, and keep it updated as needed. I see nothing wrong with sharing that information. There is a lot of information and experience in the many tractor owners. I have enjoyed this site, and the labors of others in sharing their experiences and photos of their projects. I would vote for regestering and filling out the profile section.

This may not be the right place for this reply, but here goes anyway /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. I don't have a strong opinion either way with registering. I am registered, but I usually just come here and without bothering to sign-in just view posts in the past 24-hrs mode. Now if I decide to reply and I go to sign-in, I am without any easy way of making my way back to the thread I was wanting to reply to. Could there be a way to sign-in and remain at the thread I'm reading or an easier method to get back to it? I can do that now if I'm not signed-in and use an alias RickM. , but to go sign-in now will take me away from this post. Catch-22 for me. I think John Miller III might have the same habits I do and could help explain better. Thanks again for all you do!

I never sign-out. Whenever I visit TBN I am always signed-in. Believe that I just signed in, then went to the threads page and saved that in my "Favorites". Never signed-out and whenever I click on that "Favorite" I'm in, no logging in or out.

Should I be signing-out?
